I found a MB Olds wagon in black with wood, and a Muscle Machines vista cruiser with the white tires. FYI- White tires are similar to Hot Wheels treasure hunt cars. The MB is a little more detailed (with trim paint) than the standard wagons, and has cooler looking "hub caps".
I have a black one with the regular tires.... ... also bought the "custom" 2dr GTO wagon. When I was a kid in the 80s, I wanted more wagons.... I remember having two of the green 70s Mercury wagons and a white one from the late 60s. I still have all of them out in the shed packed away. I remember mailing matchbox and hotwheels saying I wanted more wagons! Can you believe that, I was only like 8 or 9. lol. Now that I am in my 30s, here they start making them... I may be old, but I am still buying them. lol.
I'm in the same boat with ya KingsWood. I have a majorette '76 Volvo 245 in green, a white '85 Mercury Sable wagon, the green '68 Mercury wagon from matchbox, and a '68ish Ford Country Squire in cream made by "Zee Toys". I'm 31 years old and I still find myself going to the toy section at stores. I would LOVE to find a '77 Ford LTD Country Squire in matchbox size. I have seen a few in yellow but they fetch on heck of a price on evilbay.
Saw the Matchbox Vista Cruiser at Wal-Mart today. The one I saw today is gold with brown or black interior. Must be a new color.
My house is full of toy cars in every room. A long time ago I promised myself I would not collect 1/64 scale. There are just too many 1/64 scale diecasts out there. I do have a few, but I have narrowed my collecting to 1/18 scale diecasts, 1/87 scale cars (since they go along with my HO train layout), and my existing collection of 1/25 scale built models and promotional models from my younger days. And 1/32 scale slot cars for my Carrera track. I probably have over 400 1/18 scale diecasts. Do you realize how much shelf space those things fill up? Theres no way I could collect 1/64 scale too.
Just got back from toys'r'us, and picked up a (red)67 GTO Custom wagon, it has a dog in the back Hot Wheels. A while ago I picked up a Magnum woodie wagon with surfboards, its a Matchbox. Have also seen it in green with white stripes.
Hey Jim 68Cuda,,you seem like you must have a lot of knowledge about die cast station wagons. I'm pretty sure there's never been any die cast Vista Cruisers other than the Muscle Machines and the various Matchboxes, all n 1/64th scale, right?, I mean there arn't any other sizes or companies that have ever made any other Vista Cruisers in die cast,,are there??
Anyone seen this version yet? Found this in Walmart yesterday. The photos aren't real good but this one is 'For Sale'. Just like the artwork on the card, the car has a sign on the windshield that says, "For Sale, Dogs Not Included, Make Offer". On the other side of the windshield there is 'writing' that says " '71 Vista Cruiser, Low Miles!!!" Interesting twist on this little die cast.
They've been on cards for a good while but they're stepping up on the artwork to compete with Hot Wheels.
I was hoping the Matchbox Vista Cruiser would come out in a new color this year. So far I have 11 black Lesney Edition, a couple gold ones, a couple white, and a few of the two colors of the green ones, with the different style wheels. i hope I can find this new blue one, I've been looking at Wal Mart for a new color, not knowing if there even was one,,thanks for sharing.....
