I don't know just why but I always ruin Mizzoree. I am from Illinoiz and always spell it correctly. I don't dare spell Californ--- the way I normally do!
As for Mopar I've never heard them called just par. But I saw a woman today at the store with a nice par!:rofl2:
The longer we live here in Floriduu the normaller I talk ya'all.

Glad you liked the pics, and yes, that place is fun, and really close to the house. That's one thing I really love about Austin and the area around it. There are tons of lakes, streams and springs and local swimming holes, not to mention the Guadalupe, Frio, and San Marcos rivers for tubing. Almost all have really pretty clear water that stays nice and cool year-around.

    This is Stillhouse Hollow Park
    [IMG]

This is a place in Georgetown called The Blue Hole. Good cliff-jumping!

This is Hamilton Pool Preserve. That's a natural waterfall....really a neat place to swim!

And this is Krause Springs Pool. Another gorgeous waterfall-fed swimming hole.

Any everyone thinks Texas is just a bunch of dust and cactus! Ha!

My good friend from Illinois was last a rear end rebuilder for Ford. Probably what he did when he moved to Garland over 20 years ago. Sadly when we moved and changed phones we lost track. Since he was older I figure he his now part of the Texas desert.
We still wanted to visit Texas to see the scenery and some history of the West. Those pictures reminded me so much of southern Missouri and the small rivers and creeks filled with flat rocks and water falls where we vacationed a lot. One place was called "bust your butt falls." I think I know why! Elephant Rocks, Current River, and many others that Mizzouree members will know about.
What always amazed me were all the forks of tiny rivers. The south fork, the north fork, etc.

Yep I love exploring and finding new places to visit. My aunt just posted about this...it's not far from us and looks very cool!

"The Narrows. S side of Lake Travis near the community of Spicewood. From Austin take Texas 71, turn north on Spur 191, and proceed approximately one mile to Spicewood. Continue traveling north 1.1 miles on Burnet County Road 410 to CR 411, which is a gravel road. Proceed approximately 1.5 miles north to the entrance for the Narrows Recreation Area."

You have some very beautiful country there, and yes being from Canukastan.....Yeah, desert and tumble weeds, oil pumps, barren fields was the mental picture.......but then all you guys think we just live in Igloos :rofl2:

My island.... we used to have many places similar to this, not many people knew about them and the people who did respected them..... have a lot of good memories about places like this as you have in Texas.......

This looks like fun in the sun
    [IMG]

But sadly as the years went on they turned into over populated, destroyed places way over populated to have fun complete with garbage left behind.....makes me think of the 70's commercial where the Indian chief in a canoe shed a tear...

This does not look like fun....

In a way our worlds are closer than imagined, so many nice places yet they are indirectly getting destroyed:(

We've seen parts of Texas and other places around the world we've never heard of till joining this forum. Thanks Mike and everyone for showing us your piece of this amazing world.
I don't have a canoe anymore but I do shed a tear now and then when I see and hear what's happened to our land.
Even here in our part of Florida we first noticed how clean and trash free it was 19 years ago when we came here. Now it looks like all the other states we've traveled.
I do notice those places Mike shows seems to be trash free. I really think that many of those places we used to play in Illinois and Missouri were fenced off because they became unsafe dumps. Tossing glass bottles into those springs and creeks seemed like fun to some.
Even Tedy's iglo makes me want to travel to Canada to wander thru those secret Ford fields I hear about.

I've only ever been thru Tejas on I-40 on my way to CA. I never saw any cactus, just dust.

    My brother lives in Austin.

Glad you folks like the pics so much. All these neat hidden swimming holes and such are one of the reasons I love the Austin area...and how we can tolerate the blast-furnace summer temps from June-Sept!

I was born here in Texas, but went through jr high and high school in New Jersey. We had the shore there, and went tubing in the Deleware Water Gap in the summer, but the thought of jumping into a local creek or river in our back yard like the Passiac River would have been laughable...unless we wanted to come out glowing or covered in sludge/slime. Ha! All these lakes and rivers around Austin are clean and sparkle. People just pull off the road and jump in...it's so neat!

That being said, I love seeing pics from other places and learning about cool things to see and do on trips. Keep the pics coming folks!

Today is Joseph's 18th birthday. He's still behind in school, but with summer school we were able to get him into 10th grade this year, thankfully. He'll be 20 when he graduates, but at least he WILL graduate. I'm fairly sure he would have dropped out if he had not come to live with us.

We told him we'd take him anywhere for his birthday tonight. What did he pic? Ruth's Chris? Threadgill's? Shady Grove? Nope, Chili's! Ha! At leastit will not be an expensive party!

Been almost a year since we inherited our "new" kids. Johnathan is in high school now and joined the Navy Cadet ROTC program. Very cool! Eddie, is now in middle school with Lily, and both are doing well. And Tuck, our youngest, is in Pre-K. The Brady Bunch lives!

    Taking it day-by-day!

Congratz to you and your Bride Mike, Awsome responsability. Wait for Joseph's 21st and he finds out Ruth Chris serves Opus 1 by the glass and it won't be Chili's! It'll be Dad, I need another glass to cut the tallow off my tongue from this T-Bone. ;)I've heard you can even reserve parking on Congress to keep the college kidz at bay:D
