My two boys are always with me wherever I go... I'm not taking any chances with the brakes. We went down to Summit Racing just south of Atlanta today and picked up the wheels we decided on getting. (keeping all original wheels and hubcaps safely) We went to to a local car show Cruise in yesterday and the wagon got lots of attention. We were quickly introduced to many Mopar guys and got lots of new contacts and info.

Those wheels and tires look GREAT! They look like magnum 500s, and they always look good on a car of that vintage.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Those are the Magnum 500's... got them and the tires all mounted and ready to bolt up at Summit Racing yesterday. We were at a car show on Saturday and we loved the way they looked on a 68 Satellite... need to schedule an appt. at the exhaust shop next. We liked the sound of flowmasters on that same Satellite. and since mine is all rusted we decided just to go with the muscle car sound :) No headers or any other modifications... just the dual exhaust all the back from the exhaust manifold.

Im running dual Flowmasters off of Sanderson Hot Rod headers, the sound is awesome! The tips are right after the mufflers pointing straight down so it really rumbles, and I can lay the car out flat on the ground.

Don't really know why, but I haven't seen a car yet that doesn't look cool with a set of Magnum 500's on it..... Maybe something from the 50's........

Thanks! I agree... IMO, 60's and 70' look cool with the Magnum 500's... the 50's look better with full chrome. :)

    Quick update:

    Completed:
    - Cleaning, Cleaning, Cleaning...
    - All lights now working
    - All brakes checked and bled entire system and installed new master cylinder.
    - New heels and tires.
    - Checked all Spark Plugs, cap and rotor and found all to be new or like new.
    - Wires do not look brand new but looked to be in good shape and I see no arking at night or any serious cuts or wear marks.
    - All 10 Valve Cover bolts were extremely loose. I carefully tightend them up to be nice and snug for now.
    - 4 of 12 exaust manifold bolts were loose. I carefully tightend them but found one of the studs just keeps turning.
    - The engine was missing at ilde and my power brakes didn't feel like 100% power at the pedal. I noticed the power brake booster has a vacuum hose plugged in properly to the intake manifold but there are 2 inlets at the booster for some reason and the other inlet was just open. I put my finger over the inlet while the car was at idle and it immediately smoothed out. Now I have to figure out where that inlet should be hosed to. From what I read in the Haynes manual, this car should only have one inlet. For now, I have plugged the inlet off with a hose and capped it so the engine runs smoother and my brakes feel much better.

    Work in progress:
    - Weak starter - still an issue... the car cranks and starts but most of the time, it struggles a bit to crank the engine before it finally spins over. I'm pretty sure it's due to worn brushes in the starter motor.
    - A/C not working - found one wire from celenoid to compressor was cut. reconnected but still no clutch movement so it's either low on refregent or more issues at the switch level.
    - Blower motor will only work in high mode.
    - Wiper motor works but when shut off it winn not return back down. Wipers stop in place. I think I need a new wiper motor.
    - Exhaust leaks and smell fumes in car while driving (I think I still possibly have a leak at the manifold and also noticed one of the bolts to the exhaust pipe mounting to the manifold is missing a nut so it's probably leaking there. It's pretty quiet though.
    - Needs at least rear trunk carpet front and middle row have cleaned up nicely but don't know if I want to keep them... might smell a lot better with new carpet.
    - Dash cracked in 2 spots (new pad or to have this one redone is ridiculously expensive so for now this will have to do).
    - The hunt for fenders/bumpers continues.

The hunt for sheet metal on my Satty was rough, passenger rear wheel well was rotted all the way through and went forward into the rear door threshold. After a nation wide junk yard search for a donor came up with nothing and I found out the sedan had a different body line...soooooo long story short a talented guy built me the whole thing on an english wheel for $850.00. A little ouchy but an outstanding repair.

I'm a little lucky there... besides the front clip, there is some surface rust and just a couple small holes that can easily be fixed. so if can get my hands on some fenders and a hood or get these fixed.... I may be good to go. I'm told I will need to pony up $600 - $800 to have to 2 bumpers straightened out and re-chromed. So I guess it's gonna be a little while :(

Oh I hear you, I got lucky on my re-chrome, they (Ogden Chrome) did front and rear bumpers and brackets for $500.00, but chrome plating has gone up a bunch since then. These projects are a slow process and for most of us requires saving money to get things done a little at a time. Your Satty's looking good man keep up the great work!

The car looks great, and the wheels are very nice, great choice. (y)

I think I can give a little insight on 2 of your issues on the list:

As for the a/c, try jumpering power to the compressor clutch to see if it engages. (Straight battery power). If it does, you have no power to it, if not, then the clutch is faulty. Gives you somewhere to start.

The blower motor is probably just a blower motor resistor, that usually is what causes only high to work.

Thanks, I'll give the jump a try. that will tell me more. I'll look at the resistor but first I think I need to figure out how to shut this hot air off! August in Georgia with the heat on!!! NOT FUN! :whew:
