    FYI.....

Chrysler Corp. never made a production Imperial station wagon. The Imperial in the mid 70's did however have similar sheet metal to the Chrysler New Yorker. The original builder of this vehicle took a Chrysler Town & Country wagon, and put the header panel, grill and hidden headlamps from an Imperial onto it. He matched up the woodgrain and trim to the Imperial as well. He also made some interior improvements to bring the vehicle up to 'Imperial' level.

By George it's got a HEMI!!! Woopie. The 440 with a two barrel carb that it came with would get 12-17 highway.:rofl2:

It didn't even say that some famous behind has sat in it.

All kidding aside though I think is a beauty. Nice big American iron. I'm kind of curious as to what the reserve is.

The text in one of the previous ads for the vehicle led me to believe the owner wanted around $30K for it. I think it said he had about $20K in the motor alone.

This is the third time I've seen it on Ebay.

I really don't care for the mods he's done to the dashboard. I prefer if he left it original, or at least used a real 74 or 75 Imperial dashboard panel. Those have a fake wood inlay around the edge of the padded top plus the nice "LeBaron" emblem embossed in the pad in front of the passenger seat.

And if he had just left the original motor in there that would have kept the cost down too. He may have needed a $20K Hemi but I don't.

That the problem with some customs. They are built in the eye of the creator. Then when done they expect to flip it for a profit and that the rest of the world will like everything they have done.

I like what he has done to the outside. That alone would have commanded attention at resale. But that monster Hemi and dashboard leave me cold. People don't want to pay extra for things they don't want or need. I sure don't.

I agree with you on the dash mods. Not quite sure why it all had to be changed up, as the Chrysler dash is pretty good-looking one.

The idea of a totally luxurious model that was never really made is a good one, but this one seems like the answer to a question only one person asked.

I like the look of the outside - have no problem at all with that. The Hemi might be nice, but I'm not going to want to pay much of a premium for it. As to the inside, I thought the console was a bit amaturish (sp?). Would have been preferrable to use a console from a Chrysler 300H (if you could find one). The rear seats should also have been reupholstered to match the front buckets.

Bid currently at $13,800 ("Reserve not met" )
Seller also indicates "Reserve drastically lowered."

About 16 1/2 hours left on the auction as I'm typing this.......

For one, the 440 was NEVER available with a 2-bbl carb - ever! Three two-barrels, yes, but not just one!

My '78 New Yorker Brougham Salon, with the 440 4-bbl engine and weighing 4,980 lbs without me in it, gets an honest 20 mpg highway and 15 in town. Really! No shiite! These are very capable of 22 mpg on the turnpike.

Car sold for $16K plus. You'd be hard-pressed to build it for that with a 440, much less a 426 Hemi - that is the engine price alone!

How was the MPG with you in it?:rofl2:

You're right. 440's in cars were two-bbl. I think some of the bigger trucks had 2 BBL versions. 2 and 5 ton trucks.

$16,170 is a good price for that wagon, considering what it is........
