Somewhere, back in the 1970's, I recall an article describing the 1958 Chrysler 300 D. This was a 392 - dual quad hemi-powered gentleman's toy. But I also remember the writer saying how, when he saw another one pull up behind him, that the Grille made the car. He said it was intimidating. I like that look. Well I feel the same way about my choice to go from the Fairmont Grille to the Zephyr grille. It runs closer together and vertically, instead of the eggcrate look. I just picked up the whole set except the chrome headlight retainers and bulbs. The junkyard had put several Fairmont and Zephyr grilles, parking lights, bezels and support cases/brackets in the back of a Fairmont wagon, so I picked the best parts. $40. I have to go back and get the chrome rings tomorrow, Sunday, because he was closing way past his normal closing hours and I didn't want to tick him off. I'll be getting the cargo and front door glass as well, anyway. He said I could have my pick of the lot of halogen bulbs too. Andy and I are good customers, and always careful not to destroy stuff we remove. Should get some pics tomorrow. Somebody was commenting on whether the single lamp would go Hi/Lo beam with the 4-wire system. It doesn't. They run in Hi-Beam when they're on, even flipping the switch. You have to have both in for the system to allow to dimming on this one, because it has a bulb-out display in the console. Bloody handy too. I discovered I have a bad parking light bulb element on the rear passenger side. The Low Fuel and Wiper Fluid Low warnings work too!
........ Hey Norm, could you please keep an eye out for ANY 80's full size Buicks wagons or sedans I only need one stupid little plastic wood cover piece, and it has to be Buick for my door handle strap...... I'll pay for part and shipping/mail upfront. Has to be Buick, all other GM brands had there own design
Well La Dee F******* Da Lets see, I woke to rain, then it got sunny, then it rained again, then it stoped, almost cleared, then it rained again! Then it got sunny again, then it rained again, now it stopped................
With any luck that stuff won't make it here tomorrow until late afternoon. Now, this is all your fault and I thank you very, very much. I go out to the Midnight Auto junkyard to get my 4 headlights and retainer rings, and then go through every Olds that he's got. Nada. But while I'm scouring the earth for that part, I stumble upon a 1982 Lincoln Signature, with the Premium Sound AMP switch. I've been on more boards than I can remember, posting for one of those, and to top it all off, the owner gave it to me. I paid $10 bucks for all four HALOGEN bulbs (Inner/outer) and the retainer rings, and the harness for the dual parking light setup. ZIP for the switch. Now it wasn't all luck though. I go to Buck's Auto Parts for your part. Forgot they had 2 divisions, but I walked through the yard twice and went back to the office to ask where the GMs were. Duh! The other yard. Well, what a sad site, and I didn't have a camera - really sad. There's got to be at least 10 wagons there, even a mid-size 1993 buick wagon. A nice old 1967 Impala wagon, a few olds and buick wagons. And worse was how destructive customers are. They just rip door panels off, etc. Really sad. Anyway, I have to go to Backyard Auto parts early in the morning (open at 8:30) and check out a couple of Mustangs for an AC condenser and the PDL actuator switch. Took me a few early 80s TBirds and one 1981 Versailles to figure out their's are mounted right on the lock casing. Dag-nabbit. And the rabbits! Man, run around like the own the place. Your dogs would have had a riot. For some reason the owner's dogs don't bother with the wabbits. Anyway Tedy, you woke up my bloodhound instincts and I got the wrong part for you, and the missing part for me! All your fault. Thanks.
Ya well, I'm sure the've seen a few Bugs Bunny cartoons and this!....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcxKIJTb3Hg&feature=related
I found one! A 12 volt jigsaw. I was shocked at the weight of the others. Heavy like a 7.5" Skilsaw! This baby is light. The battery recharges in 30 minutes and it can use my $100 bucks in the U-type blades. My 120 VAC Bosch can't use them. Most of the new ones have switched to the T-Type only. Now I can use them. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/6/Tools/2/CordedPowerTools/Jigsaws/PRD~0541234P/Mastercraft%252BLi-Ion%252BMulti-Saw%25252C%252B12V.jsp?locale=en I bought a second battery too. $39 plus taxes. My 12 volt Black and Decker batteries cost $44 each! I'm happy.
Rained a bit and just over 10C (50F), but more rain tonite and all day tomorrow, so I'm goin' to get my parts and start the end game on this update.
Fat Tedy, I found a nice 1982 Cutlass Cruiser woodie with a roofrack in nice condition at Backyard Auto on Springfield. I didn't know the rear doors don't have those handlebar covers, only the fronts. Oh well, these don't match yours, but a Can of SEMS could fix that. I took all four. No Charge, cause I bought other stuff for me, and Tbird (I owed him for some parts he gave me a few months back - a lot of months back) Haven't found an 8-track for him.) Let me know if these are of interest. if not, I'll bring them back and leave them. They're in decent shape, but need a good cleaning. They snap in like yours do. Here's a pic:
How many tapes have you got? I got a box of about 60 in a junkyard van, and I'm gonna find out how to restore a couple that have some black goo on them, one of course being an original Jimmy Hendrix tape and lots of others that need a good cleaning. Then transfer to cassette or CD or both.
Oh about 40 or so. They haven't been used in about 30 years so no telling if they still work or the tape is brittle.
Don't give them away. I got a hard lesson in collectibles the other day. There's a good 'mom and pop' video rental a few blocks away. I once rented Convoy from them, and I wanted to see it again. Gone! The guy paid them $50 for the VHS. It wasn't even for sale! I found a site that has it on DVD, but I'll try one more place here to rent it, then I'll buy the DVD.
