WOW, 27....nice come back! I love old Buicks. My dad had one a little later than that one...same body style, two tone green....I loved that car when I was a little kid. I remember what you did with that Merc....I'm anxious to watch the progress of this baby!
Fox I wasnt even thought of when this car was sold new. I assume it was actually built in 1940 as a 41 model. I had to stop and walk up o the door and ask about it. The balloon fenders had me thinkin 1940. But the reg on it dated 1966 says its a 41. Its got the flat 8 motor, and a 3-on the tree. I am now putting together plans on towing the car to the San Francisco area. Its still up there. I only want to update the brake system to disc brakes for safety sake, I can only picture what this tank will do to some new Lexus if the brakes get weird and even gives it a love tap. Maybe change it to an automatic transmission. The cars has been sitting for decades, so everything needs a good going through and probably replaced. Plus the things that are missing on it. Anyways Ill take new pics in 6-8 months from now
6-8 months from now??:confused: No WAY! We want pix from loading it, towing it and daily progress pix during the restore! That's a beauty and we want to track it through from the beginning to the end. Yup...I'm serious. By the way, 27....if it was me (sorry it's not!) I would leave that 3 on a tree in there. Most came that way and it's easy to get used to. That car, IMHO, should be brought back to stone stock (brake conversion is always acceptable). I think you may be amazed at what it will be worth that way. They didn't make a lot of those during those years in that body style. This one is way to nice and rare to make it into a rod. Another, by the way....I could be wrong, but, that color doesn't look stock to me. I would search the correct color and go that route, too. That color looks like a 50's color but I could be wrong. I'm seriously excited to see the progress on this one. SO! Don't keep me waiting no stinkin' 6-8 months! A week at a time is the most we can wait. Don't make me come out there!
I'm thinking that is a '42 Buick, not a '41. I'd have to see the front to be sure. They stopped making Buicks in early Feb 1942 to switch over to war production, so there are very few '42's out there.
YAH 27, WHAT THE FOX SAID...BTWX3, Look for the Turn signal wiring in the deck lid when you get into the trunk. Those left 'n rite litez above the license plate hanger should be wired for just that! WHO KNEW Yeah I'm that old Half ah dozen yearz after the war had 'um like that too BTWX4, All '41 auto production was stopped in January of '42 for war production 'bout 6-7 weekz after Pearl Harbor if my lil' pea brain iz still workin' rite. To find ah complete '41 anything sanz trim and everything else and To do much of anything more then bring it back stock would be ah crime against humanityAnd like Fox also said: WE NEED RUNNIN' PROGRESS REPORTZ ALONG W/ PIX BTWX5 GUARD THAT SIDE TO SIDE HOOD WITH YOUR LIFE TOO, THE STREET RODDERZ LUST FOR THOSE I'M THRU' BTWIN' NOW
ole Buick Good catch dude! It would be nice to see this thing done as a stock model with big ol whitewalls. I'm not really a GM guy, but this would look nice in my garage....
You know mopar .... If you are a real car afficnato, you can stand back and gaze at that pristine 1959 VW Kombi bus with the pop out front windows or the 59 Cadillac El Dorado Barritz Convertable .... and even if you arent into or know much about these , theres nothing bad in saying .... Thats a damm nice ride ! The rivilary ends at the dealership, not at the cruses or shows
....but ...then you'd have none.................. Hey 27....buy the trailer too....how freekin cool would that combo be cruzin the streets????
Good Call Forever Yep, forever you're right, and I do see a lot of cool cars that aren't usually my cup of tea, but I love all oldies and can appreciate even and old Nash bathtub or a Subaru 360. I tend to lean towards Fomoco and Mopar, but I guess I could say I like them all the same. I guess if I had Jay Leno's money, I'd be dragging home all kinds of neat stuff.....
You and me both, fomo. If I was rich I would have a warehouse or two full of old cars. I really would.
Looks good! Hey F-27 - if you can get it out to a road, you could almost roll it home - it's almost all downhill from there!
Krash, thanks but the car is free. I just have to rent a tow dolly and haul it back. Im on a fixed income, unemployment. So ill mess with it as money allows. Eventually it will once again be a drivable car. But it wont happen overnight. Its in rough shape but not too fargone to make roadworthy
