so just a little update: wagon is in the body shop new door and fender being installed and painted. door took forever to find. anyway had an accident with the pressure washer at work before i got the call that they were ready for it. so all i will have to redo is the front driver side door and fender after its return. so here is a little before and after just in the wrong order. sorry to all of the purists out there. no more wood grain on my wagon.

I'm not a purist. I think it looks great.
My opinion is if it makes you happy and can always be changed back when you want to or can afford to, then do it.

Looking great! You got really lucky with the pressure washer, too. Often the worst of the job is removing that old wood grain. As noted, if you want, you can easily reinstate the wood at any time you want, too. Best of all, you keep a wagon you love!

Seems like this came out fairly decent considering you could have lost the wagon. Still nothing replaces all the worry.
All these stories remind me how lucky I've been since 1956 when I started driving. A few minor accidents which were not my fault. Nearly every time I drive I remind my wife about those cars coming the other direction or the idiots speeding thru parking lots.

It is coming along really, really well! It will be different than it was, but still a beautiful wagon by the time you are finished.

The more I see the black the more I dig it. I think it looked pretty sweet all maroon too.

I like it with the black! Really looks clean. Might look better with a fender. :rofl2:

Removed driver side fender is all the rage now. The kids are all doing it.

At first I thought no way on the satin black in place of the wood grain. Now that I see it though it looks sweet. Quite a bit tougher looking than the wood grain. So glad you were able to fix it up nice. Enjoy!
