It is good to get out. Hope the appt went well.

We had our G-son out for a few days in our little RV. He's great fun to have around.

Yep. Sad isn't it. Just how things go though. I had to get some sort of souvenir, so I bought a T-shirt.

Another trip to Seattle last week, this time an appointment for Jennifer at the University of Washington.
While she was at her appointment the boys and I did a little exploring. In the few times I have visited downtown Seattle since last summer it has largely been a ghost town. We decided to check out Pike's Place Market. It was almost completely deserted. I couldn't believe it.

Last time I was there a few years ago it was a mass of humanity. Not this time.
    Empty halls, empty stalls.

    IMG_3849.JPG IMG_3854.JPG

Next we went to Gas Works Park. I tried to get a photo with the Freestyle and the gas works, but from the parking lot it was basically no go because of the trees.

If you ever visit the emerald city and are interested in the area's industrial past, then you aught to check this place out.

    IMG_3912.JPG

And of course, on our way home we had to stop at the world famous XXX Root Beer in Issaquah.

Been to that Triple XXX restaurant many times as a kid, with just Dad and my brother Geoff, because Geoff was at Echo Glen. We'd stop there for a root beer float on a Sunday night before dropping Geoff off. The ride, Casey Kacem, the root beer float. Bittersweet memories.

Funny how a place like that can bring them back isn't it Andrew?
I hope the memories were more sweet than bitter.

Looks like it was a good time had by all! That industrial park would be great to search around in, are you aloud to climb on the structures?.....Longroofs Rule!

    Yes indeed!
Some of the machinery is covered by a structure and you can walk right up to it, but there are plenty of signs asking you to stay off.
There is a pretty nice little playground as part of the complex though, so the younger ones among us can get the climbing out of their system.

It really is a fascinating place.

Is your car a Ford? The wheel wells remind me of a Focus.

Yep, growing like weeds. I know that someday soon they will be off on their own adventures, so trying to make as many together as we can.
    Yes, it's a FORD Freestyle.

We were back in Seattle for another one of Jennifer's Dr's appointments this past weekend.
The Freestyle has one of those readouts on the info center that tells you important stuff like how many miles till you run out of gas. Well, for the past week it said "OIL LIFE O%" I decided it was time to change it, whether it was due or not.
Nathaniel has always been interested in the process of changing the oil, and now that he's big enough he's getting in on the action.

On Sunday afternoon Caleb wasn't feeling well, so Nathaniel and I went down to the waterfront. At one point we stopped to get something for his brother and couldn't help but take advantage of the setting.

Very cool at any time. Even better when riding it.

Fun fact: when I was eight, we went to Seattle, and on one ride, from the Center to Westlake Square, the Monorail crapped out. Well, as my sibs and I were staring out the window, we spotted a KOMO film crew shooting footage. So what do dorky kids do? We all waved maniacally at the film crew, so my brother Geoff and I got on the evening news!
