Maybe I missed something.........why aren't you planning to get this one cleaned up and running? That seems like a very decent car to start with? I always hate that "ran when parked" line, but this could be the exception.........

OK, until it's dragged out, fully inspected, yada, yada I have no way of knowing if it's worth it to me at the moment. having/getting a parts car for the "just incase" has allways been a priority. I have not including this one but have 4 running wagons, 3 of that can be daily driven. The Beateor, I'm a year behind schedule for various reasons and put it on hold again because my 87 NEEDS new paint this summer ( Patina like on my 82 olds is one thing, pealing clear coat and whats left is cracking and hazed on the 87 is total welfare IMO) .......... And I'm daily driving it looking like that:slap:, And don't through stones, I'm not the only member driving a "yuck" wagon. The 87, 82, and 83 are turn key safe and zoom zoom. So sitting for 14 years, this 82 is going to need EVERYTHING. I have a 72 Beateor that needs everything (but still runs) so..... this 82 is a spare parts car to me. At least I am trying to save it from the scrap yard or a worse fate at the hands of the Demo guys. I'm sure many a purist will hate me but I've got parts for the rest of my life now, if needed for only $200..... And the tow bill will probably be close to that price also:banghead3:

Don't count the 1982 out yet Tedy. Check the fluids and brakes, take a spare battery and try to start it. Can't be far from home. If it starts, moves, stops, drive slow.
What's the law on towing with a tow rope or chain? That's the best and cheapest way to do it.
Then at home replace all the brake lines and other brake things, check it out, and clean it up. Looks too nice to be a parts wagon.

It's most likely got a 307 witch has sat for 14 years, it's not worth it! there is laws on towing with a tow rope or chain, the fines and impound total $ you would receive for hauling it through city streets and then down the highway is not worth it so hire a tow truck! That's the best and cheapest and safest way to do it. Then at home wash it, have a beer and examine what to swap on your 87 witch is turn key zoom zoom and only needs paint rather than everything. Looks like you are going to get a great extra parts wagon.
Yep that's the way I wrote it.:clap:Down here we can tow during daylight with a rope or chain. I agree a few spare tires might be a good idea. I have no idea how far or how many mountains you have to travel to get that wagon home. Just trying to save you some money if it is possible. :slap:
Engines have sat longer than 14 years and with an oil change, fresh water, and a battery run fine. Or look for a friend with a flat bed trailer and buy him a case of beer when he gets the wagon to your barn. Have a beer or three and think it over.

It would be a shame to give up on that wagon without even looking at it. Certainly does look to be very solid, that's for sure. Those wheels are terrific, too! The chrome on them seems to be a particularly good grade, and I've seen amazing results with some chrome polish over the years. If it does turn out to be parts, be very careful of those bumper fillers. They look to be in almost pristine condition, and the Buick ones are not the easiest to get! Good luck with the old girl.

Mike, the bumper fillers if I or anyone needed them are available but pricy, and not fiber glass. I'd feel safer paying more now than taking a chance on buying used ones online that may brittle up a year or so down the road.

And there is one more supplier I've found, but can't remember the name rite now.

I'm sure Tedy will do what's best. After all, I think he likes station wagons. At least he has someplace to store a few spare wagons and parts. He may end up living in the barn soon.

Nothing like having a good parts car! Just from hearing members talk about inspections and all you have to go through to get one street legal, I would do the same. Just my :2cents:

I guess we are lucky here in Florida. At least in our part. All you have to do here is show up at the DMV with a title matching the serial number, insurance, and money.

We are pretty easy here also but it is getting a little harder every year. Still easy if you buy within our state but it was a little burden transferring from out of state.

That's about as easy as it is here, show up with signed over registration, yada, yada if it is or has been last insurance in my province. And if vehicle has no out standing "safety inspections" witch would happen if you are pulled over as example and the police question your ride (and they have the rite to tow you if they see fit.... complete rust bucket, blown exhaust, that kind of thing, it's just that easy. But over on this side of the fence we have that "out of province registration/inspection" thing also. Either way you just mite end up at the mercy of a slip shot mechanic and you just can't bring the car anywhere, they must be government certified for vehicle inspection = a shop that has enough $$$$ to buy certification is in, honesty has nothing to do with it . IMO it's like, mite as well just give them your credit card number and "call me once you have finished raping me".

Unless I'm buying just for parts, I will never buy a BC car/truck with a inspection notice just like even for parts I would not buy a car that is not in sellers name.

I'm not worried about this 82, I know it's a island car from day one and I'm getting exactly what I want, a spare parts car.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
