You're right about that, Cat. Unkldave. This sounds intriguing and I wish to learn more about this. I, too, have done some of my own research, but with far less endeavor.
I'll be happy to share what I know without divulging the secrets of my system. I know it sounds corny but it works for me
Sadly there have been so many "fuel Mizer" devices, magnets for the gas line, water injection, magic pills, etc out ever since the early days people have doubts about modern fuel saving devices. It would be worth hundreds for something that would double the fuel economy of any gasoline engine. I still have the small white bottle of secret stinky white powder a guy gave me back in 2005 to increase my truck's fuel mileage. A total stranger, he gave it to me, saying if this does not work, don't pay me. Directions say put a capfull in 20+ gallons of fuel. I never tried it and still have the bottle in my door pocket. Maybe I should try it! My luck the engine would sieze up or it would actually work and I have no idea who he was.
Glad there's more of us here unkldave! I've never brought HHO up here before as it can cause some nasty reactions from people. I've had engineers get downright rude about the impossibility/absurdity of it and then in the next breath confirm that they have never tried it and have no direct experience with it.
personally I have been using / making it work on automobile engines for over twenty years. Haven't got it quite right but I'm working on it. The big hurdle for me was storing the gas once you have brewed it up. It likes to go "BANG" at high pressures. But I figured out a lightweight and stable method. Works great at the track. I'll give you a hint how it works. Salt and heat! That's it Good luck guy.
Salt and heat ? Are we curing and storing Pork or gas? Seriously, thanks for the info Dave. Very interesting.
Yes, and often Brown gas! Not to be confused with Brown's gas or Snow Performance! If only we could store it in salt and burn it in our cars. But salt and vehicles don't mix.
Geez! Poo jokes! I expected better from y'all. I mean It's not like I am going to store it in a big pile in the back of the wagon! Lets get something straight here. I add a certain amount of Brown's gas to my engine on the dyno or on the track and I get a 100 hp difference for the better! With water! Aren't you all interested in that? I mean, its basically free! Nitrous oxide was pretty expensive the last time I bought a tank! As was racing fuel! Christ guys! I get this out of the tap and add a tablespoon of a chemical you can buy at the hardware store and a little electricity? 100-125 HP! Just like that. Well, there is more to it than that. I mean it's not one of those mayonnaise jar electrolysis things you see for sale on youtube but it's not far from one. WTH!? I have run this mix in $50.00 dollar engines and got the same result with a $7500 stroker engine. Well, I guess,.. Oh never mind.
Your notes are impressive Dave. it's just that most of us have heard about many "snake oil" gas treatments. And we really have no idea how to create this "simple" power and fuel economy device! Therefore we make jokes. My son spent a fortune on NOS and racing fuel. He would have been very happy to added a quart of H2O instead. We have our own well. So we are forced to pay $4 a gallon for deluted gasoline and get 15MPG.
I'm not sure what it is you want to hear from us unkldave. You seem to have had great success with your functioning system and want us to ask you about it. You've even gone so far as to generously offer a schematic to us for free. At the same time you've made it clear that you're not willing to share all of your secrets. To most of us that means that you're probably thinking of monetizing your success and, based upon that, it's unlikely that you'll find anyone here who's willing to pry. If you're willing to share your schematic then feel free to do so. I suspect you'll get more/better responses. One of the driving forces behind the HHO movement is that it's similar to Open Source software, the information can be shared freely or used to generate revenue. There are a staggering number of sources for this information on the Internet and if you're doing something different that's yours and yours alone then folks can research elsewhere to avoid threatening any unique strides that you've made. If you're not willing to share then we're OK with that. When it comes right down to it, this is a station wagon based forum and that's our primary focus. Any additional information we glean here is just a bonus. We're happy to have you here and contributing in any case, judgement-free. Please don't chastise us for not having attempted to drag the information out of you.
I never meant to chastise any of you guys. I like the forum and think of you all as people who know the biz and aren't afraid to ask questions. I just wanted to get some educated opinions on if I have something here or not? Either way, I wouldn't hold back if I knew the other guy wasn't going to take the thing and claim it for his own. I like all you guys but not that much. As far as monies are concerned, to tell you the truth, I hadn't thought about it much? I was busy working out the kinks in the system. Give the first post a glance and if you want, I'll explain how I got it to work. Pretty cool actually. Lots of bubbling electrical gizmos under the hood and it really does make extra power. I mean, It works! Unlike all the crap you see online. Maybe that's why I haven't put it online? Because it does work?
I appreciate your thoughts. And I hope I haven't offended anyone. Really. I just wanted some opinions on the subject matter and I figured since most of us on the forum are older than color TV, I might get a nice spread of thoughts. Thanks. Dave. P.S. Damn thing is anything but simple! But it works. Whatta ya gonna do?
Hey guys. I had an accident the other day and had to spend the night in the hospital. Damned ignition static caused an explosion in my intake manifold as I was working on my system. Still can't hear so well. But this too shall pass and I have made an interesting discovery. (Other than the stuff goes BANG!) I have made the gas I have been experimenting with seemingly stable at room temps and under pressure. Sodium hydroxide was the answer to my storage issues. Now I just have to figure out the cam timing and this cursed ignition crud. This stuff ain't easy for a guy with a high school education. I actually have to read books on the subject!! Geesh!
