Is this the car? If so...look at the door bottoms and spare tire area. I looked at this wagon and the guy says it was a wood delete but it has the wood trim. You will have to fix the rust so I would think hard about $6500. Just my 2 cents.
Hi - I called him just for that reason - the lifting paint. He says it's just surface rust (no holes) and the paint is lifting up, and he left it that way so people could see it. The same SS trim appears on the wood sided ones, from what I could find out; the wood fills up space between the trim. I won't go over my $4k limit....
I'm wondering how hard it would be to find that grill piece that has broken pieces in it. Probably have to get the whole thing, huh?
That's a good point - not much space to shoot a different kind of photo, when they are all lined up like that. I went on eBay last night to buy that Sunstar Plymouth, and there weren't any. I emailed the company to see how to buy one... you asked if I collected models; I was up to 200 - 1:18 cars at one point! Down to about 40 now....
For the grille, I would try Wildcat Auto Wrecking first since they are at least in your state and specialize in Mopars. http://www.wildcatmopars.com/ and if they can't help you, then try Freman's in Montana. http://www.fremansauto.com/ I have a couple hundred 1/18 scale diecast cars myself, but don't have the 1/18 scale 60 Fury yet. I was hoping for another color. I don't want another red convertible and don't like the red interior on the yellow convertible. But I know I'll end up getting one anyway once I see them at the Mopar show at Carlisle this summer. I Just looked at the Diecast Pub and they have some great photos of the Sunstar Fury convertible, but it doesn't appear that its been released just yet. Fairfield Mint is just a disdributor for Sunstar, so its probably the same car you had on order. Okay Fury, I have it earmarked and noted your bids. I can see that with Torquethrust II's, slighly down on the nose with tinted windows. A barge, but with a quiet rumble of the 440 cruising down the street. Nice!

What a collection! You would get a kick out of the dioramas I used to make; made 145 of them over 4 years. There were in Hemmings & DiecastX magazine, and I even had a website, diecastjunkers. Can you give me your email address? I can send you a few photos. You'll appreciate them... I will definately buy the '59 Dodge when it comes out. I feel the same way as you about another RED convertible!
Didn't go to the auction. Something else came up that weekend if I remember right. No money for another car soooo.... As for wood decals. I think that is subjective. I like decal woodys if they have light wood trim framing. But some of the 60's Chevrolet wagons had acres of wood paneling framed with thin chrome spears. THAT look somehow seems odd to me. If you are really interested in wood paneling I will design some for you specific for your car for no charge. Then, YOU get to pay the auto wrapper to print the vinyl and apply it. Takes about two hours. I have a friend here in Salem who will get you a good deal. He is my partner in the t-shirt business and owner of Supervinyl Signs and banners. We have done vinyl wrapping before and I have helped lay down the stuff so with my help and input we can make that puppy look unique and special! You win that car and then think about my offer. All we need is two visits. One to take pictures and measure the car. And one to apply the vinyl. Can even print flames, window stickers, racing decals, whatever you can imagine. Win that car first.

Good luck on that auction...still a long way to go. Nice documentation and it certainly looks decent in the photos. Given the rust issues that the seller has identified, I would make certain that the underbody, chassis and suspension components aren't suffering from typical Illinois corrosion issues. Make sure it's clean and solid before spending your money on it! Happy hunting!
