Improved my gas mileage which was way down into the single digits today. Put new fuel lines in, as I was leaving puddles the size of hubcaps wherever I parked.
I always wanted to go with a 2.8 German V6 in my Fairmont, I've had three of them and they were UNBREAKABLE, far better than the 3.8 V6 You should be able to adapt the GM TBI to just about anything, There are lots of in-line pumps that will push enough fuel and you can run new lines if needed.
Yep, I had one is a Capri and two in Mustang IIs, And speaking of induction, I forgot that in my 78 Mach I the car had a wierd carb. It was one of the Holley/Weber DGEV jobs but it was a Variable Venturi, (I think it was a 2300VV) and it got SUPER good gas mileage. I should look around for one of those.........
With 98 octane fuel I average around 20.5mpg round town, or 25+mpg highway driving. In this girl, 5.7ltr (350Chev) with mafless edit & tune & set of extractors at approx 306hp (wheels). 4 speed Auto Weight & Meas Spec Kerb Weight:1699kg (3745.65 lbs) Gross Vehicle Weight: Not Provided Height: 1545mm (60.83 inches) Length: 5084mm (200.86 inches) Width: 1847mm (72.72 inches) Ground Clearance:105mm (4.1 inches) Towing Capacity:Brake(2100kg), Unbrake(750kg)
Oh, another good thing about the TBI retofit. The airhorn diameter is the same as a carburetor so it will tuck into the stock aircleaner assembly and will look stock.
Yeah, HandyAndy showed me the one he picked up and it had me wondering too. Is it a carb or what, I thought. hmmm. Thanks.
Don't know much about that engine, but, to be way better than the GM 3800.....well...it must be built by magic elfs.
I've never been concerned with or bothered to figure out gas millage as long as the vehicle is running correct. The best I can do is, I think this wagon is doing a hell of alot better than I thought it would being a V8. I can say my Wife's Celicas are cheap to drive gas wise...and they go like SH**....Thats why "I'm" not aloud to use them often, got cout by honey going the other way on the highway once..OK, a couple times so the floaty wagon and the farm geared truck are better suited for me I'll be useing my cargo van mostly in the winter to work and back, That thing is a PIG on gas but it runs and drives good.
My 05 Pontiac Vibe (wagon?) get 30 -32 consistantly. Mostly highway. Not sure yet about my "new" 87 Caprice wagon but it's going to look just like Fat Tedy's. One long hair GSD and one short hair GSD. Then toss in one crazy mofo of a JRT.
I have kept a running record of my mpg since I bought the car in a spreadsheet. I only got 25.7mpg at the first recorded calculation, but as the car has gotten more miles, it has increased slightly to where I bought gas yesterday and my Forenza is up to 28.4mpg. I hope to get it up to at least 30.
