^^^ In my looking around the internet, I've actually seen quite a few of these - up market wagons without all the power equipment. In the case of the Mercury, I believe you'll find that P/W and P/L were still options on even the Colony Park at that point. I've seen Chrysler Town & Countrys from '65 - '69 without power, too. Odd, though.
That IS possible. In 68, ONLY the Continental got AM/FM radios. Not even Colony Park could get that.I don't know about at Chrysler and GM, about the AM/FM radio availability in 68...I DO know, the 1929 Chrysler Imperial was the first car to come with a radio built in to the dash,as standard equipment...
Yeah, Krash...pretty much a deal breaker for me too without power options. Clark...I sent ANOTHER email to Fred...a long one explaining everything about me and what I want. Still no answer. Again...I feel if a guy sells on the computer he should at least answer ONCE on the computer. I don't like the way some people sell on Ebay and other computer sites and then want you to call them. I feel that is lazy and I don't think a buyer should have to chase a seller around to beg him to buy a car. Just the way I am.
Well....the Colony Park has disappeared from Ebay and has, most likely, gone to someone that came up with the big enough bucks that satisfied the seller. Hate it when that happens. We will never know what the car sold for. Unless....someone here bought it.... Nope...not me.
Give Fred a little time, or contact him through ISSF. He is the godfather of 94-96 GM B-body wagons, if you gave him something specific to look for I am sure he will find it for you. He does get busy from time to time so it is not unusual for him to be hard to reach at times. His results are worth the wait, I have never heard anyone being unsatisfied with any of the wagons they have bought from him.
Got an email from him...short and non-conclusive. I'll just watch his Ebay site like everyone else. I think that's what he likes anyway. Saves time & trouble in the long run.
By the looks of all this EBay manoevering, it may be that the warehouse is running out of good project wagons, or demand is picking up fast. You'd think people are losing their homes and moving into wagons, or what?
I'll tell ya, Normy...it's slim pickings out there. I've been to many, many sites and wagons are just NOT there. There are some here and there but nothing like there once was and none too cherry either. It's beginning to worry me.
I think that the woodie Pontiac Parisienne I mentioned is in good shape, but I can't get close to it, except by appointment. That won't be for a while after the flood waters crest next week. There was a nice looking Fox Mercury Wagon - no wood, probably 1983 to 1985 too. All the bodies on the 5 or 6 wagons he has look quite good. Something to keep in mind.
that '58 Poncho wagon was a nice resto-mod done up by a guy in my old home town - Venice, California (he runs a bakery / cafe there). The car was actually put together at a shop back in New Jersey, I believe. Lots of nice custom touches in it.
Chrysler had an AM/FM option on Imperials and New Yorkers in 1964. The "B"-body cars (Coronet/Satellite) followed in 1966. The "A"-body cars (Dart/Valiant) then followed in 1967. Trucks? Not until 1970, and only as a dealer-installed option.
