Excellent Brit, keep us posted...and don't forget the pics Glad your still checking in so many join, get a hardy Welcome and then don't seem to come back???maybe we are over whelming newbies with our overzealous welcomes??? Either way glad your here and good luck with your little limey wagon.
It seems to me there was a Vauxhall wagon for sale not so long ago, and it certainly brought back memories of the English Fords I knew as a kid. I would love to get my hands on a 1958 or 59 Ford Zodiac Estate. Too bad they mostly turned to piles of brown powder around here. Good luck on the hunt!
I notice you have a 58 Ford Prefect, probably named after the character in the old Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy books by Douglas Adams (the books were much better than the movie). Whats the difference between the late 50's Ford Prefect and the late 50's Ford Anglia? I saw (and photographed) a 59 Ford Anglia at an antique car show in Rockville, Maryland yesterday, and when I saw it I had expected it to be the Ford Prefect. When I do an image search on Google for a Ford Prefect, it looks like its the same car. Ford Anglia
Boonies The boonies are located on the Eastern Shore of N.S. Actually, a great place to live. Thanks again to all for the warm welcome to this forum. Jim68Cuda nice pic of the 59 Anglia. A very nice example. The mid to late fifties Perfect & Anglia cars were basically the same. The differences being: Prefects were 4 door cars..... Anglias were 2 door cars. Perfects had also had marginally better trim. Cute little cars. Being 36hp cars they will go from 0-60 (eventually!). MikeT1961 the Ford Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac line of Estate Wagons are extremely, the styling is stunning and they are much sought after. Awhile back there was a Vauxhall wagon on the market and that is one of the 2 cars I'm pursuing. Also glad to see The Rev has a couple of Brit fords and look forward to learning more about them.
oh BF....thats a thread all on its own My father bought me a 51 Prefect for my 10th birthday....paid 10bux for it I had it till i was 20...and now...all these years later...a old friend of mine bought it from the family that bought it from me 30 some years ago wild huh? and I bought my first Thames(a 57) when I was 15....it got out of control...as things do with me ...I think ive owned about 15 anglia/prefect/thames about 16 years ago...i sold 3 Thames, 2 prefects and 3 Anglias to a guy from England He went home...but never took the cars....and now a guy that only lives about 5 minutes from me, owns them all...and has 2 of the Thames and 1 Anglia almost fininshed
I lived in West Jeddore as a kid. I have a sister and a niecs in Ship Harbour. It is a great place to live! "cute little car" see guys it's not just me, it's a common term here...
Rev, Lots of British cars in your background for sure. There's an early 50's Austin Countryman wagon out your way for sale that I would like to own only I wish it was a little closer to home. Apparently, it was 1 of a small fleet used by the B.C. Forestry Dept. back in the day, and from the pics posted by the seller it looks as tho it has survived quite nicely.
ya...and the Hilman Husky that i was gonna buy (spent 2 weeks beating him uo on the price).....welll a guy I know walked in and gave him full asking price..:banghead3:....then phoned me to torment me!!!... ( didnt NEED it...just WANTED it)...
Dewey, Thanks for the welcome! That's a really cool ride U have there. Love the tinted windows, low stance and the rad wheels. Rev, the Hillman Husky I remember well. My Uncle Don used to own one and we spent many a ride in that lil wagon. Too bad U missed out on getting it. The chance to acquire 1 of these rare cars don't come along often. BritFord
