Never tell your wife that, unless she does too. They get jealous in a hurry. The wife carries the babies for 9 months and lose their shape. The wagons carry their babies for 20 years and keep looking younger. Heck the wagons even get new high heels and strut like a 20 year old!
Even if it WAS from you gramps....you STOLE that beauitful wagon, sscoot! I would LOVE to find a deal like that! Good score!
Welcome sscooterr! Fine wagon. I tried to buy a brand new one in November 1980. It was -20, 8 inches of fresh snow, 8:30 PM at nite, and the Dodge salesrep wouldn't show it to me! No kidding. I walked across the street, literally across, and by 8:55 PM I owned a new 1981 Fairmont Futura Wagon. Cash money, no trade. Still deal with the same sales rep, who now owns 3 Ford dealerships. :banghead3: I hung onto the brochures for years too. They were one nice wagon. Loved Mopar's cars. Dealers not so much.
Yup.....there are some amazing stories about some car salesmen, Norm. That guy would have been fired on the spot had the dealership owner found out what happened and ESPECIALLY if he found out you bought a car that same day elsewhere. And a different brand at that! He was too lazy to go outside in the cold and lost a sale for himself and the dealership. I know some sales guys like that from when I had my lot. A few of them own lots now and they don't do near as well as most.
I didn't even go back to gloat, I was so pi$$ed. Today, I drive by that now closed dealership and shake my head in pity, driving my fine Fairmont Squire.
Yup, only paid $500 for her from my Grandpa's estate...which was $100 more than my uncle was going to sell her to the neighbors across the street for. Of course, the sentimental value of having my Grandpa's first brand-new car complete with the original bill of sale is priceless. I honestly didn't know at the time how rare or awesome this car was...from the time I was 11 years old until I was 37 she'd always just reliably been there. She needed some work to get up and running well again as she'd sat for two years...probably spent about $1,500 in all...rebuilt carb, u-joints, broken motor mount, fan clutch, batter, tires etc...and worth every penny!
