I've seen scary do it your self jobs, some of the best were when we buying a house in 2000.

Go to one house, and The low slope roof had round look at the ridge, no closet doors in any bedroom and then I noticed the door frame is out of square..... none of the bedroom doors would close and bath room door was cut on angle at top so it would close. So I've already red flagged the house but kept looking just because. Dinning room floor was very sloped. I go downstairs and there are 2 doors side by side, I figure 2 rooms... hell no, home owner removed a load bearing wall to make one big room, did the same on the other side of the house to make in garage longer.... The house was caving in on itself!

Then there was a house advertised with brand new suite/finished basement.... Oh yeah, brand new carpet, fresh kitchen cupboards, brand new painted drywall...... with over a dozen 3 prong orange electrical cords sticking out of the finished drywall, that was the power for all basement electrical! The fuse panel, OMG!!:slap:

I CAN'T GET THE THREAD UP ANYMORE. Did the condo collapse? :slap:

I agree. Someone should have explained the fine art of construction to the man. Even I can sometimes nail two boards together fairly straight.

I wonder if I can hire him to build me a shed for some more cars? At least the sand is fairly stable here. Looks like it would meet hurricane codes!

That's classic. My father used to always joke about nova scotian carpenters, saying that if they found a board they'd just nail it up on the house somewhere. Whether it was needed or not.

Look like Koreans might be somehow related to Nova Scotians.

Also, he used to say; Rory, Rory get your dory, there's a herring in the harbor to poke fun at the Nova Scotians. I always liked the Scotians. In the 60s and seventies, before we started using Jamaicans, we used to get herring-chokers to drive down from N.S. to New England for apple picking. They were good dependable workers, but when they got a day off due to rain or something else, they loved to head into town for a little debauchery. The day after they got back, you could count on their numbers being down - probably due to hangovers and who know what else. When they were on, the best of them could easily pick over 100 bushels a day. And this was in the days of big trees and 24' ladders.

But as mentioned, WHY would you not offer some kind of help/advise rite from the start??? That a lot of $ wasted on brand new lumber etc.

The tenant clearly did nothing other than have his picture taken with his girlfriend in front of the place......
