That photo that includes the Custom Cruiser proves that as much as I dig the styling of the 91/92 OCC, it's a visual dud when compared to great wagons of the past.

OK, took this weekend to clean out the garage, and get organized with all my old car stuff. Spent some time going through the various promotional materials I've collected over the years for both my '62 Olds Starfire, and for the Dynamic 88 wagon.

Oldsmobile issued no advertisements as far as I'm aware for any of their full-size '62 wagons, and only a few factory photographs. This one I've posted here is the only one I've ever seen that captures a "scene", if you will, as two guys are at the golf course, sitting on the tailgate of their wagon, talking to an attractive lady, dressed in what I highly doubt was standard female golfing attire in 1962, even though they were much classier back in those days. I can't quite tell, but I think she's wearing high-heels--on a golf course!

I know this begs for a great caption, but I also want to make sure I don't risk the one-liners that are bound to come forth, so just enjoy this piece of marketing from 50 years ago all the same!

Oh, I wish it was; no, that belongs to my friend Tom Bogo, who has that wonderful '58 Super 88 Fiesta wagon. That has the "Trans-Portable" radio, that you can actually pull out of the dashboard, and listen to it on the beach, whatever. Tom has two of 'em--one which he keeps in the car, and the other which he actually put on the roof of his car (ever so gently), turned ON, with a huge external factory antenna, and "demonstrates" it playing at car shows!

GORGEOUS! I love Oldsmobile's and those are SHARP! I love the deep steering wheel design of those. Very cool!

...it is amazing how many people just love that steering wheel! That, and in the case of the Starfire, the size of the deep trunk well--perfect for drive-in movies, or mob hits!

I always thought that the Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs of that era had some of the most wonderful interior designs--talk about steering wheels, those Lucite (I think that's what that clear stuff is called) wheels on the Pontiacs were just phenomenal!

My grandmother had a 61 or 62 Catalina, even as a young moto, I thought the steering wheel on it looked really cool.

Also, received my California Car Cover today, that I ordered for the wagon over New Year's weekend; these are specifically made for the contour of the vehicle, and like the one for the Starfire, it fits like a glove!

Took some higher-resolution pictures today of the wagon for an article in one of the upcoming "Runabouts To Rockets", which is the official monthly publication of the National Antique Oldsmobile Club; which every year features an issue (or maybe two) on the 50th anniversary Oldsmobiles for that year. Just a couple of shots in the 60-degree sunny weather we enjoyed in Northern Ohio this afternoon, plus one of the wagon all cuddled up!
