Re-reading Brian's earlier post, he has to mail in four photos of the car, but you know, taking pics with the hubcaps off may be enough.

Again, if they have some guy sitting at a desk performing forensic investigations on the relative wheel sizes on an antique car to ensure they are the correct wheels/hubcaps for that year before they'll issue antique tags, there's something rotten in Harrisburg!

And an old Ford Parts Department with a micro-fiche reader. The one I go to has it, and they can at least give you the correct number.

I have used the numbers in Google searches:

C7xx-1234x-??? style. the last '-???' usually indicate RH or LH type of info.

In the google box: space"spaceC7xx-1234" OR space"CYxxspace1234"

So, the forensics investigator assigned to Harrisburg will scrutinize weak old style wheels that would probably fail with modern radial tires but would probably not blink an eye at 30 year old cracked and rotted 2 ply bias tires that are ready to pop if you look at them wrong.

    Cool.:rofl2:

He's a purist TBIRD. The poor investigator isn't allowed to think Safety First. I know in some places the Historic plated cars can't be driven after a certain hour. Ontario, Canada is one. They try to keep them off the road if they deem them a high safety risk, except for parades or political photo-ops with the Shriners' Parade.

I think you guys are not understanding my issue. I have 1999 Crown Victoria Mag wheels on the 67 squire. I am supposed to take pictures of all angles of the car and send them to Harrisburg for approval for a antique plate.

The messenger service I went to find out what all was involved, notified me that she has seen numerous applications come back due to non original or lets say age appropriate wheels on their car.

I have always wanted to put the correct rims and hubcaps on the car, I just did not think I would have to do it now. I am considering just sending the pics the way the car stands, but I am afraid they may deny me and keep my money!! So I am just trying to find the right wheels and covers. the rims seem to be the most difficult thing to find. I looked at my spare tire, which is a 67 rim, and it looks nothing like the rims I pictured at the top of the post.

best of luck brudda. But youre right the later rimz wont work.

    ok...hold it....everybody breathe!!!:slap: ..........:biglaugh:

first off...when they say rims...they most likely mean...'custom rims'
..in a lot of "collector plate" city's...they will allow period correct 'Mags"

...but as for the Hubbies..ya...they will have a research twit that will confirm that they are 'caps' that were available to that car.

    and with that said...carry on...ranting!!:bouncy:

    Stormin,

Thanks for the link to Fordification. That is where I got the photos at the top of this post. That is a great web site with a ton of info.

Udate on my antique tags. I simply decided to change the title only for now. I was at the messanger service today and considered submitting the pics of the wagon the way she stands now with the crown vic mag wheels.

The lady behind the counter was very nice and said she wanted to show me something. She brought out a classic plate application for a 82 Mustang LX that was all stock, except it had chrome rims. I saw the reply from harrisburgh..DENIED...tell owner to change rims to OEM and submit the new application and pics!!

So there you have it. I am not going to register the car until we are done with the body and I have time to find the wheels and covers I want which happen to be OEM

    Thanks,
    Brian

I lied, I said I wasn't going to look any further into this, but I think I found a goldmine for you.

The guy is a schoolteacher and he wants to auction off his inventory, so he's not even maintaining his site very well:

Hi Brian... did you buy this car out of North Carolina? It looks identical one that was in North Carolina that I was extremely interested in. I was about to buy it, when out of the blue, a local lady with a 1972 Caprice wagon that I had been trying to get her to sell to me for about 8 years finally called and offered me the car! I saw that Squire on Craigslist originally. He had sent me more photos and as I recall, it is a very nice and almost totally rust free car, with excellent interior. I think the front seat cover was the only thing not original. I am not sure how much you had to pay for it, but he offered it to me for $2200 obo, which was a steal, but he said he was going to list on ebay. I am not sure if he ever did or not. I do remember it being a neat car and with some new paint and woodgrain, it would be totally amazing. I remember it had later model Crown Victoria wheels and I was going get the original style hubcaps and put on it if I were to buy it. If it is the same car, I am glad it got a good home and to someone putting it back original! Post some photos after you get the new covers on her! Those covers you posted looks to me like the ones that came on these originally.

    Good luck!

EDIT - this is the same car! I seen your other post about where you bought it! I am glad it got a good home! Keep us posted!

Hey that is a cool story, and as you figured it is the same car. I had been looking for a squire for about 3 years and passed on many. One I gave serious consideration just sold in Canada for 8800. It was so nice, but shipping from NS canada was going to be at least 1700 plus and I could not get there to look at it in person. So I decided to buy one that needed restored, my brother could look at it for me, and shipping was basicly gas money. I was quite nervous but it did make it home.

I am glad I got it and once I tear it down and rebuid it, I will know everything that went into the car. We are likely going to pull the engine since we found some issues with the original 390 motor.
    Thanks,

    Brian
