One thing to add to the above list, the often overlooked radiator cap: If the spring in the cap is old the radiator pressure will be too low and cause it to boil over.
Imagine that fine wagon retiring in southern Florida! Neat way to last many more years. Welcome aboard!
Hi John and hope you got good seat belts in that great looking wagon? Cause your in for a heck of a ride now that your a member here...
Hey Lapianoman, Welcome! Seems we have a few things in common. I was about 6 when my dad bought his '76 Caprice Wagon...also in Rochester and it was the same color as yours. His had a tan vinyl interior, six passenger. Do you recall which dealer your dad's is from? My dad was not a car guy....once his rusted out he traded it in for an '83 Caprice Estate.....I had no chance My '75 came from Chicago and it too ran hot for a while once I got it out here to CA. I replaced the thermostat and coolant and all wise fine after that. Glad to see yours has stayed in the family and you're looking to take as good care of it as it has been accustomed. Any more pics?
He purchased the wagon August 9, 1974 from Hallman's Chevrolet on East Ave. I know because he still had the original bill of sale, along with the owner's manual & original title (which I had to hand over to the Florida DMV.) I have a couple more pictures that I didn't post...anything in particular you were wanting to see?
