I enjoyed the pictures, even though I've never been to Austin. The photo of the University co op shows an ad for Travis Club cigars on the store next door. You can still buy them (and other fine cigars) from Fink Cigar Company in San Antonio.
Very nice read and loved the photos. Next road trip will start and finish in Austin. Will definately visit 'Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon'. Had a great time there back in December 2008. At the time we drove a very nice '66 Riviera GS from upstate NY to Austin for a very good friend in Austin. Here the Riviera arrived in Austin (it was in a park) where we were welcomed with a (traditional?) TX BBQ and a few Buicks: Austin is very well known here in Europe for the SxSW festival: hope to visit Austin during that festival in the near future.
Sadly that low water crossing is gone now. They built a bridge there because whenever it rained that road was DEEP underwater. My son about cried, he always wanted me to floor it through the crossing. That's a great park for climbing and also for the dogs, and in the summer we swim there. Gorgeous Riv!!
