Ok. my mistale. Boken wire of bad fuse connection. Is it still 6-volt too? Could be one wire is too small - high resitance.

    Stormin' Norman:
I'm guessing it's probably a blown fuse. Found some bare wires when I was cleaning the rear sockets. That's taken care of, now I just have to find the fuse. And yes, it's still 6 volts and is probably going to stay that way for a long time......

    Yes Sir. That I am.........:bouncy:

Now to fix the brake lights so I can drive it again :slap:

Actually, you were correct. The switch is on the frame by the brake arm.
The problem may be in the aftermarket turnsignal control. Traced the wire from the switch and have got juice going into it. Now I got to take it apart and look for a bad, broken, or corroded contact inside. If that isn't the problem then I have a broken wire in the harness going to the back lamps.
Found another problem too. When they put in the headers they ruined what was left of the heater plenum, so I'm going to have to fabricate one.
The damn thing was rotting away anyhow, and it just crumbled when they tried running the tubing it across it for the new carburetor heating unit.
I don't know what Chrysler was thinking. It appears to have been made out of "tardboard" i.e. thick cardboard only like tarpaper. They probably had no idea the car would still be around 57 years later ...
The new one will be made out of metal !!!!!

Is that one of those with the rubber wheel running on the steeringwheel? I used to fix those when we had slow days at the family junkyard. Small world.

Man that's pretty. Yep, that one and another from a major parts producer... I wanna say Autolite, but it could be Smith Instruments. Anyway, those old beasts were made to be repaired, and you'd be surprised where you can get parts from! The US Army and their Quarter Masters inventory. I think they still use the old 1948 to 1952 Dodge Deuces for training. I'll bet ya a donut on that!

That is a great site! The Master Technician Service manuals at the link below is the best information you can find for early mopars. When I replaced my drive shaft boots last year there is a booklet which explains it step by step; early Plymouths have trunnion bushing not u joints on the drive shaft.

Just remembered that Delco made some too but painted, not chromed.

oldmopar, that is one of the nicer sites paying tribute to the real Chrycos.

This is one huge 110,000 link site to anything automotive, but its well organized.

Well, I now have brake lights. Took the Yankee apart, cleaned all the contacts and reassembled it. :whew: Talk about a PITA to work on.
Now I can say I fixed one too.....:rofl2:
At least I don't have to worry about rewiring anything (yet)
