It's not eBay's fault this guy is acting weird. The system is flawed but seems to work normal for those who use the system normally.

Instead of emailing back and forth, I would have suggested you get a phone number and call the guy. In a discussion person to person, one can discern a lot about liars from their speech patterns even over the phone. Email does not allow this.

I would expect that if he is selling a lot of items, he may have multiple hoods for sale and instead of taking pictures of each item he just uses the same image for multiple auctions. I know of a lot of slot car guys who do this and I have even done it a time or two when the item is nearly the same.

Now the die is cast since you pulled the dispute so just wait and see.

This is true, it isn't totally ebay's fault although they could do more to protect people from the bad element. I tried calling the number listed several times and it always went to voicemail. As silver said, keep fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Now I find another person in TN with both fenders for the car. I guess it will never end. * Starting a new thread to discuss fenders*.

Apparently the hood has been shipped. Although a tracking number can't be used to track a shipment online unless the transaction was completed online:rulez:.

Says who? This may be true if tracking it through ebay, but the shipper should have the tracking number by simple virtue of the fact that he shipped it. Nothing is stopping him from simply emailing the tracking number to you directly and you going to the UPS or whatever website, typing that number in, and tracking it yourself.

Greyhound? Didn't think of that. I see from their website that you're right, tracking is only possible if the shipment is placed through their online system.

Oh well, it's just like things were back in '90s and before. You just have to wait for it to show up!

So far, I have never had to deal with these situations. I still buy at junk yards ( not salvage or recycle facilities, junk yards), flea markets, or vendors at car events. From adds in local Thrifty Nickle type papers, sometimes yard sales.
Of course, this was when car guys were actually car guys and honest. Today most car guys are just crooks trying to make a dishonest buck from real car guys.
Also had good luck thru car magazine adds for years. Been buying from Hemmings ever since Ernie started selling from his one car garage in Quincy, Ill. Even companies dealing in reproduction parts. Also from car friends who have extra junk stashed away.
But never ever have I even looked at E-Bay, Craigs or any others on line.
Parts houses like jegs, Rock Auto, Speedway and others ,yes.
Owning old Fords and Chevys has advantages for body parts.

If you don't get the hood, try going on Big Block Dart .com.......I have been a member there for many years.I had a pro street Dart before I sold it to buy my wagon. There are many guys there who may be able to help you find a hood for a Valiant and they won't screw ya.
