Well, its pretty, in its own way, but:
I've heard that those slant sixes are troublesome and don't hold up very well.

The original slant six went bye-bye back around '69 or so when the original owner only used water in the cooling system - cracked block. Owner parked it. Along came second owner who noticed it parked in carport around 2001. He bought it and put in a 360 V8 from a Dodge Diplomat. Has an automatic and front discs, too.

So I would only be the third owner.

As long as the Valiant is fairly reliable, it should work.....

Like I said, this is still not anywhere near a done deal yet. I have not even seen pics of the interior yet. Should be arriving in the next day or two....

MY dad was an ice machine salesman in Florida back in the '60s.
He drove one of those for years, but it was a six with (IIRC) a three on the floor. Or maybe a push button automatic.
He had two Valiants, first a sedan, then a wagon...
They never broke down, and he only gave them basic maintenance - he definetly wasn't a car guy.

    Good luck!

They had the push-button automatics in them, but a 3-on-the-floor manual was standard in '60 and '61. Switched to 3-on-the-tree manual for '62. That's what this one had originally.

I've liked the first generation Valiants (and '61-'62 Dodge Lancers) since I was a kid. Had a buddy who's mom bought a '60 sedan. I later had my '65 Dodge Dart with the slant six, but without the Exner styling, it just wasn't the same.......

Wow - way cool! It's a '62, yes? Lots of character - love the lines on it. Looks like it's got some bonafide patina going for it as well! I like it a lot! Hope it works out for you!
