Thanks for posting this. I've talked to this guy not long ago. At first I was really, really excited to find he had one so close and it was a wagon, but the guy was very hard to deal with, kept putting me off, then would totally forget who I even was or why I was curious about his pontiac (he first advertised on Craigslist as a "bunch of B-bodies for parts"). He finally opened up and started talking but won't sell the car, just the parts, and unfortunately most of what I need is dented there. If he'd sell the car I'd get the whole thing, for the right price of course. He has another clamshell.

The header panel is $120. Radiator core support is $100 And the inner fender is $45 Right now I don't have a good fender or hood. The ones that I do have need work.

This guy PM'd me on FB

I called and talked to the guy. He's already dismantled the car, unfortunately.

Hey guys. I think I fixed all of the broken links in this thread. We've been on vacation this week so I took the arduous task of fixing all of them. If someone happens to find one that I've overlooked let me know.

No luck yet finding the parts car. I've been searching daily for a parts car but haven't found the right one yet. I'm sure something will come up eventually. Many of you guys have sent me links to several cars and I really appreciate it. We're currently on a vacation to Hilton Head, South Carolina and I would have really loved to have brought The Clam.

I really, really want to keep this car. We've had to replace April's daily driver, The Clam, with a suburban. We're both very attached to this car and the thought of having to get rid of it makes us both sick, particularly after getting this close. As of now I will need to find a parts car and replace all of the sheet metal forward of the windshield, except maybe the driver's side fender. All of the woodgrain will have to be replaced. The woodgrain trim will have to be reshaped or I'll have to find now. The new fender, which will almost assuredly not be from a woodgrain car, will have to be modified to accept the trim. The core support and all of that will have to be done. New radiator, etc. This would be the time to fabricate the electric fan to get rid of the parasitic belt driven fan, which would be somewhat involved in learning how to wire up a controller for it. I've also got to have the rear end rebuilt, possibly reset the driveline angle and then move back to the seemingly impossible task of, once again, trying to find a way to seal the back window/tailgate.

I think you should also keep buying a good-condition '71 wagon and using The Clam to fix it. I know, I know, you have a tight attachment to it, but look at it from this angle: you find a '71 clamshell in very straight condition, regardless of color, and it may or may not need woodgrain refurbishment. But you won't have to color-match the paint and possibly paint the entire car, or can put it off for a few years. You have an excellent-condition interior, drivetrain (well, you did mention the rear axle needing work), plus most of the brakes, steering and suspension. Just think about it as you look around.

A color match on the paint should not be a problem as it's not old at all. That woodgrain tho.....

And silver I gotta tell ya It's just NOT the same car. As I strip mine out I am disgusted, and bummed like a mother just thinking of ALL THAT WORK I did to restore/redo it. Knowing where it's headed for it's final ride/rides. I do however know it will go down fighting and KICK some SERIOUS AZZ! At least his IS repairable.

Not fixable would be far cheaper to buy another wagon. Its Mostly stripped now. Funny thing tho I removed the trailer hitch and it straightened right back out! The bumper is tweaked and it moved in a bit but just too much needed replaced for economical repair.
