im leaning toward discreditation. you will never hear another gm recall hitting the news ...but i bet you will see every ford or toyota one that hits.

my buddy tested a new malibu and i went with him on the drive, that malibu cant hold a candle to jens mercury as far as build quality and value! such a shame. the us auto manufacturers used to be the benchmark of the world

First off I must say nothing made today holds a candle to what once was. Many of us would agree that most of the new stuff lacks character and looks very similar to it's competition.
That said, if I were to go out and buy a 2010 today I'd buy a Mustang. Not even close. Looks great, has the power, good MPG's to boot and of course, it's a Ford.
New SHO Taurus is nice, styling is good compared to what else is on the market. Tons of power, but different than what I'm used to.
I have always liked the latest gen Chrysler 300. I think they are very handsome cars with a definite "American Car" look. Unfortunately every doofus who can eek out a car payment and still afford 36' wheels seems to have one.
And if I were to buy a truck, hands down, Ford Superduty. Best selling line of trucks for 33 years for a reason.

I wouldn't buy a new car. My tastes are too expensive and none of the cars today make what I like. Take the woodwork in a 1946 Hudson, the finish work in a 1958 Imperial Ghia, the trim on a nice 1958 Packard, the reliability of a simple-tech car of the 1970's, the styling and colour range of the 1950's and 1960's.

And all the repro frame and panel firms? Heck for $40,000 in a new peepot, I'd have the car of my dreams and know how to fix it anywhere!

Hey Norm, I know of a car, albeit not a 2010, that has all the qualities you mentioned.
Are you familiar with the 1979 Fairmont Squire!!

Do bears crap in the woods? :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

I'd really love to build my own dream car. I already checked with our DMV, and they would let me license and register it based on the grille. This is the grille I want on the front:

And my spares on the front fenders:

That would look so cool. We should try to find that guy who photoshopped the 2010 Country Squire a few weeks ago and see if he could come up with something like that for you.

Yeah, you missed that? Oh, it was really sharp looking. I'd never to be able to remember which posting it was, but let me see if I can find it in my computer.
Yup, I found it. Here you guys!

The Jewel of Style, snooter. That's one pretty wagon for this generation of bubblegum cars. Real class.

How about a Caddy Sport wagon???

Not too flashy...304hp-6 banger, rear wheel drive and just under $45K.
Plenty of grunt and a VVti engine.
Only thing NOT to like is 91 octane.
And they have GREAT paint jobs!!!
Gas mileage is decent, and the leather is SUPER!!!
But, I don't see myself in one...
    Later,
    Bruce
