Congratulations and salutations! As one door has closed in your collective life, the next one beckons.
That's it! I'm officially out of work. I skipped out Friday at 1:00. They sent me off in fine fashion. Pizza was brought in for all the staff, a very nice cake, a few gifts and hugs all around. I was really starting to believe this day wouldn't come but here it is. Now I will be able to hang out here more often
That is wonderful news, Fannie. A new home in a new city and a new career as a retiree. Congratulations!
We just had our first house guest. My sister from Saskatchewan just spend a week with us in our finally finished guest. In ten days my aunt (mom's younger sister) and uncle are making a surprise visit. It hasn't been easy keeping it quite...I am very social.
It's nice when family comes to visit. You will have fun with them showing them the sights in your new adopted town and the work you've done to your home.
Gosh, it's hard to believe it has been a year since I retired and we moved here. It has been a very busy year. It started with a new roof installed, then a new furnace, two sets of house guests, more unpacking, Christmas and settling in for winter. Once spring arrived the work got started again with an electrical upgrade and heat pump installed, then we had all 28 windows and both exterior doors replaced. This of course meant there was a bit of renovation in a couple of the rooms as there was rot in the walls below the windows. It really wasn't a big surprise, we had our suspicions. The contractor that we had agreed for hubby to complete the interior trim work and they would complete the exterior work. My job was the painting inside and out. We were able to find a young man who was willing to climb a huge ladder to paint the three gable ends and the upper fascia trim. I did the lower fascia and right now I am refreshing the veranda rails. Once this is done the house will be completely done outside. And we love it. Between all the house stuff we have planted our very first veggie garden, that's been fun. I have learned how to make pickles. We also had someone in to give us an estimate to get the body work started on Fannie. Boy that is a lot more than I thought it would be. We have had a few conversations about it. Should we invest that much money in Fannie or maybe sell her and get something that's already done? Hubby went down to talk to the body guy again, they seem to have come to starting point. He is suggesting that we do all the sourcing for the replacement body parts and hubby will help him with some of the actual body work. So I think we might move forward with her restoration. I'm excited but leery.
