Fanny, here's hoping you aren't included in the Hurricane Fiona sweep that's forecast for parts of the Atlantic Provinces. That goes for all the other members who live in those areas as well. This has been a very strange weather year for much of North America it seems, as well as other parts of the world.

It,s been a few days I hope Fanny gets power back soon.
My wife's cousin who lives on Cape Breton just got her power back.

Man, you don't realize how much you take electricity for granted until you don't have it.
I hope it gets restored soon.

We were in the path but made out well. We only lost the power for 2 days. Our #2 son lost power for a week and had a lot of tree damage but none to the house or sheds.

Thank you all for your concern.

    Jennifer,
I haven't been on here lately and I just saw this thread.
Congratulations on the new house and the improvements; I think you're mkaing excellent changes and enhancements!
That "barn" is going to be a wonderful hobby/work space!

Thank you, it's good to hear from you. I'm really excited about the new place. I was hoping hubby could get Fannie there before winter but I'm not sure that is going to happen. No worries she will get there at some point.

Just wanted to let you know we haven't been just sitting around hibernating. We have been very busy decluttering our Stewiacke home. Whenever we get a car load of boxes we have been taking them to the new place.
We decided to have the water to the house disconnected, the power is off too. When we go with a load of boxes we sort them into the appropriate rooms then head back home. No staying over with no water or heat.
Last weekend we had packed up enough stuff, that I borrowed the cube van ( about 8' x 16' box) from work, hubby and #1 son took that and I followed behind with our grandson with another load in the SUV. My sister and her hubby met us there. The six of us made short work of that load. The most important piece packed in there was Fannie's engine bonnet. A piece of her has finally made it to the new place.
The decluttering has been going well. Between trips to Parrsboro we have been repainting, freshening the rooms at home. The living room and hallway have been touched up. We redid the main bathroom before Christmas. Two weeks ago I decided to redo my bedroom closet. There was wallpaper in there that's been there for about 30 years. It came off pretty well and the new look looks great. Today I painted the smallest bedroom, paint really is magical.

Master bedroom walk-in closet before and after pics. Hubby's closet was refreshed too, but it's not as interesting without a chandelier.

Before and after of the small bedroom. The second picture was taken after the first was done. I managed to get the second coat on after supper. It looks good.

More pics to follow after the new floors go in. No hibernating over here. ;)

Wow, those changes look great. You have managed to stay far busier than we have this winter. Having been retired for so many years we're a tad less motivated on cool days than we were a decade ago. Now I'm a tad embarrassed and feel the need to get busy again. Your moving in stages like you are is so practical and the right way to do it when that approach is possible. You are going to love your new home once you are moved in and have your treasures in their places and can sit back and enjoy the next part of your retirement journey. Looking forward to more pictures as they come.

Safai57 you always have lovely positive things to say, thank you.

Please don't feel guilty, it isn't easy to get off the couch. But I have a few short term goals and am trying to keep my eye on the prize. With hubby being retired, he has been very busy during the day when I'm at work getting things ready for me to paint. And besides, we are striving to enjoy the life you are living.

She is finally out in the day light, first time in about ten years.
A friend of our #1 son was supposed to take her to the new house last Sunday but sadly on Saturday the fuel pump broke on his truck. Hopefully he will still be interested once it is repaired. I'm really glad that didn't happen while he was moving Fannie.
