Plow just went by and woke me up,It's 6:30 am about 8+inches of snow looks powdery and is drifting in the brisk wind quite well. It appears to be heading to a long snowy day! How are you north east guys making out they say 3 feet possible in Boston.
Count me in as weathering the storm here in Quispamsis. Not much for accumulations but the wind is ferocious. Power outages around me but not here yet. Emergency chicken ready to go.
Excellent good to hear from you Zal, we have friends in Quispamsis. So far no power outages here although we have no phones? a little unusual, cells are still working if we need them. I took Skipper out for her morning walk, she REALLY likes the snow. We walked about 2kms( around 2 blocks). When we got back I cleared the snow away from moms door and walk way to her car. Not that she's going anywhere, I like to have it clear in case the is an emergency. Clearing the snow away actual wards this off. However, while I'm doing this Skipper is doing her part to tidy the yard...she brought me a couple of frozen...poops...ewwweeee! When I took her in the house I was amazed at how much snow one little, hairy dog can hold. So the two of us(Skipper and myself) set about pulling, brushing and melting these little hairy snow balls off her. After about 20 mins. I towelled her off and wiped up the floor then I made a pot of e-chille since I didn't have a e-chicken, Skipper passed out. All this time hubby was trying to snow blow the end of the driveway, the heavy stuff from the plow, but the snow blower wouldn't stay running... so he gave up. When he came in #1 son arrived to see why we weren't answering the phone. He stayed for lunch, leftover meat loaf on a bun with melted cheese. Then outside we could here motors running...it's our awesome nieghbours! They cleaned up their driveway, then ours(we have two) then they worked their way down the street, all together they cleaned out about five driveways as far as I know. First the Ford plows the snow to the side as best as he can then the excavator scoops away form the garage doors...cause Fannie is coming out of there...someday soon! Pics are following... Pic #1 is Weldon in the truck and Billy in the excavator cleaning Billy's drive. Pic #2 is Weldon in our drive. Our little Sonic and one of Billy's work trucks on the road. Pic #3 is Billy in the excavator cleaning in front of our garage. In the back ground you can see Weldon in the nieghbours drive. Pic #4 is Billy in the nieghbours drive and between the trees you can see Weldon two doors down plowing their drive. REALLY great guys!!! The snow had stopped for about 2 hours but it has started again and it is really getting windy. And that's the view from the window here in the weather satellite office in central Nova Scotia.
Thanks for the weather report from the Nova Scotia satellite weather service, fannie. And, hey...it's nice to have great neighbors.
Yeah, nice when you have a comunity like that. Everyone looking out for everyone........hope ya fed them some chicken
I would like to feed them some chicken but he totally refuses to take anything. After they had placed the garden shed in place for us last summer I planned to feed them all with a bbq but Billy only had a burger and then went back home. I usually put a little something in an envelope and mail it to him just to help with the gas at least.
We don't get winters like your side of the pond, but a few years back we had our 100 year winter storm.....no power for 2 weeks, snow that would even make you crindge, BBQ chilli and snow bank full of beer makes hand shoveling alot better
Weather channel said we got 48 cms at 6:00 pm and it's still snowing and blowing. Was out and cleaned out the driveway this afternoon will make it easier when the storm is done. Storm appears to be done (sun 9:00am) about the same in the driveway as i cleared yesterday! Snow is relatively light and will be blowing around for days.
Wow! I'm weather watching fanatic. It used to annoy Zoe how much I insisted on watching the news but that changed back in 2011. You guys got some impressive measurements on your snow amounts. I hope that everyone makes it through this okay. I heard on the news that there some deaths and I'm sorry that happened. Saw a firefighter wading through three feet of snow to get to some one who needed medical attention and no vehicles could get to them. Awesome for them and to all those out there like them. And Fannie next time you get to talk to your neighbors give them a handshake from me. Every one be safe.
whew!!! Just got back from walking Skipper. I think it's worst today(wind wise) then yesterday. The worst part to walking in this kind of wind is you can't hear very well and there are alot of folks out plowing driveways, stores, etc. By the time I get bundled up, two sweaters, coat with a hood, head band, hat, shin high boots with pants tucked in, well not only is it hard to walk but it's alittle tricky to hear... Yeah this could be me, but a black coat and fogged up glasses... and Skipper kinda looks like this... poop on the floor is much easier to clean up...
