Nope. The Renault-Peugeot-Volvo V6 was a 'last minute' thing in the Delorean. Mr. D. had wanted to put a GM or Ford (or was it Chrysler?) V6 into the car, but wasn't able to make the deal (I'm sure there's a Delorean history book out there that's got the details.) The only good thing about the RPV engine was that it was cheap.......

OK....I know D had to change at the last minute and he was NOT happy about it. Actually...he was a great car designer and the engine screwed him. Among other things. Anyway....was that engine then the one they put in the Fiero?

I heard a rumor way back that he wanted to run the Buick Turbo 3.8 V6 4BBl motor that the Regals were running. If that is correct or not, I am not sure. That is just what I had heard.

I had heard that rumor too, around 1996ish.

nope mike, the fiero.. was a plain ole 2.5L iron duke 4cyl
or a 2.8L v6 in the GT. regular old GM mills...stickman is the fiero expert here...he races them.

now dont write off the lowly fiero just yet. a 350 fits in the engine bay with no modification..(i think you have to move one 1 engine mount) and a adapter plate for the tranny. then you get a real pocket rocket!

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. I think he wanted the 3.8 V6 - N/A and turbo.

Yeah....that V6 was a bad one IIRC. A V8 in one would be fun. I just never liked the way they rode. Ass was sore every time I drove one. LOL

Probably wouldn't be able to engineer a V8 in the Delorean. It was a rear-engine design, not a mid-engine. A heavy V8 would have really screwed up the balance.
