Anyway… after taking our own personal tour of the property and rack houses (26 lettered a-z) and taking a couple employees hostage we found the temporary visitors center. The Master Distiller was there signing and talking with the customers. We waited til the crowd cleared and spent a good 30 minutes in just plain good conversation with Jimmy Russell. Heck! I would live in a rack house if they’d let me!
Daily Driver… “Darlin…you got a better chance of takin’ me back to Missouri with ya than you do his truck…” * says the 96 year old wife *
Back in the 60's when I was going to college, P.A. Sturtevant, of torque wrench fame, lived two blocks from school. He built as set of custom headers for a friend of mine's corvair, who ice raced in Wisconsin in the winter. Sturtevant had a 4wd Power Wagon with a blown 426 hemi in it. He used to do 4 wheel burnout exhibitions at the National Drags in Indy. Full 1/4 mile ones.
Nice, an Allison V-1710, which was a backup engine to an unlimited hydroplane. I've heard of this truck, but until these pics, I've never seen it. Now I understand what all the fuss was about. Does the truck and trailer still exist?
