The fact that the photo on post #33 was taken in December of 1957 is just crazy. Could you imagine working in the design studio? The cars look like 1962 models. They are 5 model years ahead of the new 58's. They would be driving around thinking everyone is in used cars. Every time a new car would come out they probably have a case of deja vu. In their minds a "new" car would be a 5 year old model. Just fascinating.
Early 'alternate' Corvairs... First one is a Pontiac (obviously). Not sure it was ever given a model name, but it was probably the closest one to actually getting approved for production. The second pic, directly above, looks like a VERY early styling study, even having the windshield pillar design of the 1960 full-sized GM cars, which ended up not being used on the Corvair. This MIGHT be a design for an Olds or Buick variant. In the background is an early design for the Corvair van.......
Back then,spending half a decade between design begin and production was normal. 100 Corvairs were Yenko'd
