and that is why i am always armed! we have had people posting Ipods and Ipads for sale here lately. people call, make arangements to go buy it off the seller, then the seller robs them when they show up. and that is also why i am always armed! when i was selling my caprice sedan a couple years ago i had a guy call me and ask me to wait for him on a saturday he was comming up from maryland and wanted to see the car. so i changed my plans around to accommadate him. he never showed, nor did he ever call and say he wasn't comming. dick! finally, i had a guy show up and was very interested in the car and was test driving it (i was with him) when i got a call from one of the aforementioned "gangsta" types. after explaining that i was currently on a test drive, he frantically said..."whoa man i got cash...dont sell it...im on my way wit cash money!!!" at this point the guy who was driving my car smiles and reaches into his hoody pocket and pulls out $1500 (the asking price) and whispers "i want it". before i could get a word out the idiot on the phone says "hey...whats the lowest you willin to take fo that "..... seriously!!!! you are gonna beg me not to sell it to a guy standing in front of me and then proceed to try to low ball me! i don't think so! i said "the guy driving it has $1500 cash in hand right now and wants the car...so it appears that its sold." the respose from thuggums was "uh huh." then he hung up. i hate selling crap on CL.
Damn thats scary Ian, another reason I don't own a gun and do not want or need a gun. Besides, I would end up in jail for murder the first 10 minutes I had one, with my temper. So its best if I don't have one. Another reason I like living in the middle of nowhere, a place I can leave the keys right n the ignition overnight and never have to lock my house doors. I have a tire checker that I always kept in my car, between the seat and door, from when I drove truck. Just a 2 foot toilet plunger handle with a piece of pipe shoved over the end of it. Not much good in a gun fight, but only a pussy will pull a gun on someone to mug them and usually try to be right in your face to do it. Like the guy in Erie tried to do to me with a knife in my 80 Regal, just hit the power window up button and floored it. I drug that Gangstah 2 blocks to State Street till I found a cop and laid on the horn. Black man tired to press charges on me for dragging him down the street. Police officers said "we didn't see anything, only you with your arm in his window and your knife on his floorboard". HAHAHAHA! I have sold a couple things on CL, but I have the buyers email me, never give my number in the listings, but I do give my email, I have a yahoo one that I use for this and only this, not my gmail, but to the AT for the @ symbol and have them add in a phrase in the title, helps keep the BOTs and Spammers at bay. Then I request the buyer give me their number in their email. If legit sounding, I will call them, then arrange a meeting place not too far from my place and have them call me when they are close to it. That way I am not wasting my time waiting for them and I am not having people come to my place and scoping me out for a robbery.
Ya I'm done with Craigslist.. Looking into trading the truck and getting another minivan.. pre-approved so lookin.. waiting to hear back on one now actually
You are exactly right. When you sell a vehicle all you get are idiotic stories about how a shipping company will come pick up your vehicle. When you try to buy something you wait and wait for a response just to be told that it is no longer for sale ( JUST REMOVED THE AD) or they set up an appointment and pull a no show. Screw CL:rant:
I have 7 ads I am waiting on replies to, all were given my cousins number and he has yet to hear from any of them. One was a nice little 88 Dodge RAM D50 2wd Extra Cab 5 speed. Said call, text or email. My cousin and dad both tried to call him several times, phone # will not accept calls? Cousin tried to TXT him, come back as delivery failed, and I emailed him 2 times and no reply???? I started communication with him the same day the ad popped up. That 77 Maverick, the jerkoff never replied and took the listing down. I am so sick of CL ads without a number or real email on them. But you cannot find anything online any other way in my hometown area. NOBODY uses newspaper ads anymore. eBay nails you a fee for a listing, so what does that leave? CL, but they are mostly idiots who must use the soup can and waxed string for phones and someone cut their string in two!
