    That was common on some race cars, to give better CG stability.

    Jaguars all had it, as well as later Alfas, NSU RO 80s (pictured) and the Audi 100 LS standard. Both of the latter at the front

    Right. The only problem? The amount of labor to replace the rotors.

    It wouldn't have been that bad, if the axle shafts were designed to get unbolted, like the older Rabbits were.
    Those inboards were great for vehicle handling. But, a nightmare for mechanics. The Citroen Maserati being probably the worst of them all.

    I'll bet. Just trying to do trapped rotors on an '80s Honda with a slide hammer'll physically take it outta ya.
