Just bought a 94 caprice wagon (5.7) WOW, talk about a cold starting engine, but i knew that when i bought it. This is one of those just had to have it kinda cars :) The temp gauge doesn't work, do yinz think that's because the temp sensor on the front of the pump or possibly another issue? Another question, 95% of the time, cold warm & or hot, I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor to start the car... whats up with that??? you'd think this would have a choke of some sort like my "old" carburetor (ed) engine had... I'm ready to learn folks. show me the wisdom please

I'd start with fuel pressure check.

Could be filter, fuel pump, the "soft" line between the pump outlet and the outlet tube on the fuel tank sending unit, fuel pressure regulator...

I'n sure the LT1 folks will chime in with more specific help.

Also, search for existing threads on this forum and on the GM longroof forum: http://gmlongroof.4umer.com/forum
That forum is almost 100% "B-body"!

    Good luck.

And one more thing: Welcome aboard!!
