Hi all, I have been busy with reproducing the weatherstripping for the ‘71-‘76 Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Chevrolet fullsize wagons since july 2021. I had an original NOS half to work from. I used to own a ‘73 Belair wagon that I completely restored. Using the newest techniques and materials, the weatherstripping is now tested for fit in a freshly restored wagon in Sweden. I live in The Netherlands, but could not find a nice vehicle for testfit around the corner.. The original set was LH and RH. Mine is a one-piece, so correct length and so on is crucial. This week I expect the first delivery of the extruded pieces. The prototype series was also near perfect. Originall the hardness of the rubber is shore 30, mine are same. The polyurethane rubber now used is far superior in durability than ther orginal stuff. Included are some pics of the rubber. When I am ready to accept orders, I will of course mention that here. I really do not want to rush into this, accept orders and money, and then get a bad name because the wait is too long. It has already been 51 years since these things were last on the market….
Sounds like your doing the clam shell community a great service! Hope that it all works out. There are people looking for this all the time on here. Good luck, getting it to production!.....Longroofs Rule!
Thanks, it is a very complicated piece of rubber..I believe it could well be the most complicated piece in automotive history haha.
OH! By the way WELCOME to the forums! You should go to the Welcome Wagon thread and introduce yourself and mention your product, it might get you more views. Do you own a wagon currently? If so post some pictures! Enjoy your stay on the forums and again good luck!....Longroofs Rule!
