This house has been rescued and subsequently restored. However, the apartment building being set up next to it is about to spoil the entire restoration, because of missing laws requiring neighboring buildings to follow traditional architechtural patterns. Such developers should be made to visit the Netherlands, for example, where they have such laws.
It would have been better if the lot stayed vacant and used as a garden

The automotive industry both built up and destroyed Detroit. Wealth accumulated from this industry was centered in neighborhoods like Highland Park and little known (even to us Metro Detroiters) Brush Park:
