If I remember correctly the date it rolled off the line was stamped on the same plate as the car's weight(s) on the driver's side door pillar.
Mine was September 9, 1978. The 1979 Mexican production line changeover left them short of 1979 parts so they used a Hooped headliner, a real Dana rear end from a Granada or some other local model, maybe even a 1978 Mercury Zephyr! Even a Mustang front swaybar - 1.125 (1-1/8") diameter, not the normal 1.0625 (1-1/16") V8 swaybar. She gets better with age.
If I were gonna celebrate a car's birthday it wouldn't be when it was made or shipped. It would be the date I bought it no matter how old or new it was. But I have enough trouble remembering my wife and kids' birthdays!
Amen.....and the only cars birthday I remember is my Buicks, given to us on what would have been my parrents wedding aniversary....thats why I like dates on pics
We don't celebrate vehicle birthdays , or deaths, but do use them for remembering events of the past. Like I had my 72 Gran Torino in 72 and that's when we went to Lake Michigan camping, etc.
My honey and my first date, I'm a single dad..... I paid my daughter age 9 at the time what ever $ she found in my work weeks pants pockets come laundry time to clean out the car weekly. Back to first date witch was a brunch day thing......I asked my little one to clean the car while I have a shower ( she knew I was "going on a date'). Got out of the shower and yeah, the car was clean.....cleaned rite out on the front yard in the wind, glove box and all....found my insurance/registration papers 1/2 way down the block...... First date, in a 1980 Colony Park Wagon....I was a hour late because of........turned out pritty good, it was back in 97
