Caprice Rear door and transmission trouble

    Keep in mind that with these rear doors they will not fold down if the rear window is not all the way down. And if your car is like mine the rear window is slow/weak so if it doesn't go all the way down by even a bit then the tailgate won't fold down. I usually give give the car some throttle to make sure the window has enough power to go down and up.

    I upgraded all my grounds on the Squire. My wipers, lights, heater/AC, tailgate de-icer, everything perked right back to New Car energy. I made my own, and instead of crimping them, I soldered them. This is the best DIY sticky I've seen on doing it. If your back window is slow to retract, I'd check the motor armature and the switch contacts, as well as upgrade the car's grounds. I used 2 AWG guage wire, but on a bigger wagon, you might want the 0 AWG. It cost me about $40 to do the original cables and add two more to the chassis. Here's the article:
