Stormin' Norman- The 2.3L in my wagon is the original motor. Nothing has ever been changed except oil, plugs and wires.

You're wagon looks so rarin' to tear that I figured you'd have a mean machine under there!

If you ever decide you want to, take a stock 1984 to 86 Mustang Turbo powered 4-banger model as a complete donor. You need all the electronics and sensors and the Feedback/OBD system.

Our wagons weigh so much less than a TBIRD Coupe that we'd eat rice-rockets at idle speeds!

Just the 1979 Ford Pinto

When I was a kid my mom had a 1984 Honda Civic wagon and then a 1989 Toyota Corolla wagon.

 

I keep rolling it around in my mind what to do with my Fairmont. I bought it with the intention of a 351W/Toploader transplant. But, driving it around with the 4-popper has me kind of hooked on the great mileage and driveability. A couple years ago I wouldn't have cared about originality, and trust me, I have ticked people off with what I've done to pristine original cars, even rare ones. It sucks geting old!! The economy woes have me stalled at the moment as well. I'm only working a few days per week now.

 

My wife was antsy last night. We've got lots on our plate right now, with the renos and cold weather and no contractors with time to quote. So she wanted me to talk her back to sleep. I get her back in snoring mode, and then all the details about the reno start firing off in my head and I can't sleep. So I creep out to the pantry, turn on the light, and start making notes and sketches. At 3:30 AM, she wakes up, and mumbles that she can't sleep again. Back I go, 3 pages later and 4 sketches, and I'm cranking out more ideas with no paper and pencil. About 4:30 AM, she jumps on the bed, gets up, and she's done sleeping. Does everything she can to make 'noticeable' noises with the coffeemaker, making Porridge (we like that on a cold morning) and then gives me the "Honey, breaky's ready" holler. I was thinking about Jackie Gleason and ALICE!!!

We get too soon old, and too late smart. It sucks for sure. I figure I need more 'smart' exersises. :confused:

The one thing going for us, is that the oomphie Ford Turbo 4-bangers in the Mustangs and Capris are cheap to find and usually a chick car, not well-maintained, but not abused either. Keep your eye open for one. The harnesses fit right in, up to 1984 from 1979, as does the crossmember, and the rest is doable in a weekend with a buddy. V8 power (145HP) and 4-banger economy.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

 

My brother had a complete running turbo T-Bird a few years ago. He sold it to a guy for a couple hundred bucks, but the guy didn't do anything with it. He's going to get ahold of him and see if it could be bought back.

 

OMG! I hope it happens. You got me all excited. Figure that your wagon is at least 500 lbs less than the TBird. Good luck. I've got my eye on a 1984 and a 1996 Mustang, both turbo cars. Gonna be fun.

i have had three total.
1966 fairlane wagon. bought it for the motor and trans scrpped the rest, keep in mind i was 17 and stupid.

inheritrd a 77 chev caprice wagon sold it to buy a ford maverick.

and currently own a 1966 country sedan.
