Looks like Wiki is wrong, it is a 307(Oldsmobubble) 4bbl with the 200-R 4 speed lockup trans.

Congrats KK! As for the 307, I had one in my '66 C10 and didn't even know until I took it out for a vortec motor I had. I had the 307 for 6 years in it, 2 years it was my DD and was nothing for me to put 300 or 400 miles a week on it. I see no problem with them and if the 305 that was originally in my wagon would have been running I would be crusin' it with the 305. Just my :2cents: on the motor. As for the wagon :thumbs2:

    Yup. I'm waaaaay past due!

As to the engine, I originally thought it was a 305, but Silverfox checked it, says it's a 307. From what I can gather, it's possible that some of the California-sold wagons had the 305 in them due to the different smog regs then in force there.

Hey, wait a minute...... was the 307 Olds mill around back then? My 83 mid size olds is a 305, not a 307. Again KK, if it's a 305 witch now I'm thinking because of the year.....your even better off.

    Well, on that......
Further checking reveals that the brochure states "5.0 liter OLDSMOBILE V-8", so who knows. The engine isn't identified by the cubic inches. I was under the impression that the 305 was a Chevy and the 307 an Olds. Then again, Chevy had a '307' back around '68.........

My Oshawa-built '81 had a 305 in it. I think the 307 was an option if I remember my '81 engine catalogue correctly. (Shouldn't have given that catalogue away with the car I guess).
