I know how that feels. I went to the JY to get a console, dash and floor shifter, last week, and now I am changing the entire electrical system and adding AC, besides changing the upholstery. BUT that the advantage we have, if we don't like the options, we can change them.
Thanks Norman. I am very fortunate to have a great group of friends who are always willing to help out with projects. To me, and them, this is a very big part of what the car thing is all about.
Found a leaky transmission cooler fitting, and fill tube. I fixed the fill tube problem but had to pull the rad to properly fix the cooler fittings. Or swap in the other good rad I have.... Bought some new ball joints and borrowed the installer tool. Got those installed into the new control arms with a helping hand from Norm. Got the car jacked up and on the stands and started pulling the front end apart tonight.
I still don't get why our cars had power steering coolers. The 1981 Capri didn't have one. I didn't put it back on mine, but the 1978 Fairmont donor didn't have one either.
It's my day today, sunny and warm so I'm going to wash, polish, clean and detail both wagons. And to make sure I stay healthy.....do the same to my honeys van
Mine had it, when we bought it in Mexico, and it went all bubbly, so I scraped it off. The original glass had the darker factory tint, but I can see why someone would want it in a hot, sunny climate. It does cut the sunrays, and probably helps the AC to run more efficiently.
more progress well. the front bumper and grille upgrade is done, we now sport a 300 style hidden headlight grille, mostly NOS parts, all others have been stripped and re-pained, including bumper brackets and frame.
Sweet Your moving on my ideas John. Glad somebody finally figured it outNow tell me the Hurst "power bulge" hood iz on the horizon too? Then tell me the gold Hurst side strip wouldn't look fantastic and fit your C-piller and continued all the way up 'n over your spoiler? We gonna see it at Carlisle this July?
G'day to you all. We have just recently done a 318ci Fireball V8 E.L.B. conversion, with a 625cfm AFB, K&N, 904TF, and an Edelbrock Streetmaster Manifold. This has made the Sergeant a whole new wagon. Will Not ever go back to a 6. Cheers Wagooon
Workin' and workin' About this time every year I'm scramblin' to get a bunch of things done before show season begins. This year it started with a Christmas cruise where I thought I heard some rumblings in the rear-end. I've always had chatter when I go into reverse on this wagon, and so far the only thing I've never done much to was the rear-end. So I knew there was a Maverick rear-end available out there with 8" gears and 4-lugs so I could keep by wheels and tires. So I figured I may as well look for a replacement rear-end rather than tear into the one I had (parts are almost nonexistent except for used) and hope this does some good. Couldn't hurt, I'm sure. Found one just after the new year and began the work to put it in. Of course, as you've all experienced, one thing leads to another, so the inevitable "while I'm at it" things just sort of happen (see my blog in my sig for that story). So here's a few pics of where and what I'm doing right now on my wagon... Also put in a new red-head steering box... while I was at it.
Thanks to some friendly persuasion from StorminNorman, my control arms and springs were finally installed today. I hate spring work. I'd much rather fiddle with a carb.
