Trust is important because seller only accepts cash so I have to do an advance payment to someone who can give the cash. Why is it so complicated. It would not be the first time we'd buy a car in this way. My former daily driver was a 1985 Lincoln Mark VII from Albuquerque, the first time I saw the car was in Rotterdam.. But it was a great clean car. But I know we were lucky..
We'll be down there in late July or early August, but that's too long from now. If you're still looking then, I can help.
Maybe our friend from Phoenix does have the time/opportunity to go to Hemet. Fingers x-ed!! Of course he'll get a fair fee for it although I know he would not ask for it. Krash Kaddillak, if we still have no merc late July/early August maybe we can use your help..
How about this one in Florida? http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/cto/2442441984.html or this one in Minnesota with only 36,000 miles? http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/cto/2431402906.html or this one in Texas? http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/2441219905.html
It is frustrating but all cars I found were sold or the sellers do not respond. I do not have feedback from the ones in Kansas, Florida and Victoria yet. I sent them emails and spoke in the voicemail of the one in Kansas...:banghead3:
Some people might suspect you as a scammer and not respond. I don't think the average person would think somebody an ocean away would really have a legitimate interest in what in their eyes is just a 25+ year old boring station wagon/family hauler. With all of the scammers/spammers on craigslist you might be fighting a bit of an uphill battle.
That was my thought, too, Kevin....so, I answered some of the ads that Ina did and, so far, I have had no response either.
That is exactly the reason why I initially do not tell them I am from Europe. I have got an international gmail.com account. Yes, I have got a dutch name but in America I see a lot of non-english names. Or maybe my english writing is not perfect. I am afraid that the sellers who do not respond have already sold their cars.
Your English writing couldn't be better, Ina. You are right about the name, too. I doubt anyone would notice. That's smart not to expose your location.
Ina, Here's link to one in Phoenix. I just talked to the owner, he's out of town but will be back by Tuesday. It is a Colony Park. It runs but needs work but he says it's a straight rust free Arizona car. Has woodgrain that needs replaced. Sounds like a project but a good solid starting point at a pretty low price. If you're interested ley me know and I'll go look at it for you Tuesday when the owner is back in town. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/2449715308.html
Thank you for posting! Could be interesting. We gave our blue wrecked one also a fresh respray and woodgrain, so we are experienced now. Most important is the weatherstripping and it must be free of rust and serious dents. I wonder what the color is, especially of the interior. Blue is not a must but could be convenient if the condition of the interior of this one is bad... ours is still in good condition except the driver's door. What does "air does not work" mean? Airco? I must say the cp in good condition in Victoria BC is no 1 on my list but if that seller still does not respond... That car is more expensive, but if that one does not need restoration that could be a lot cheaper after all. And the ones in Kansas and Dallas... neither are they responding... Phoenix... I know how dry it is, I have been there. So if we still do not hear anything from the sellers of the other cp's by Tuesday I am seriously interested in this one. I have got friends in Phoenix, I will send the link to them too, they are also very helpful.
I think he said the car was tan.He said no dents or rust. I'm not sure about the interior. I'll call him back and ask. Air not working means the Air conditioning is not working.
Talked to owner again and he said the interior is tan also. He said it needs a good cleaning but is in good condition.
