Nevermind about the 1990 Olds Wagon for sale. I'm going to trade the guy an old suzuki swift for it. I think I'll transplant the rear end from the 90 which had 3.23 gears in it to the Roadie which has 2.93. I'll probably get the wagon for the equivalent of about $100. The rebuild kit for the rear diff cost me $115 plus axle bearings which came to $209. I already replaced the axle bearings in the Olds so I know they're good. 3.23 gearing should give me a bit more jump off the line. I don't think there's any other differences between the two although possibly an ABS sensor. I'll have to figure that out.

    Any ideas?

This is a totally hijacked thread from Ted who wanted wheels for his Buick. Sorry Ted.

P.S. I'll be parting out the rest of the wagon it looks like if anyone needs anything. (assuming I get it.)

Yup...the sensor is on the shaft. There's a shoulder there for it...completely different than the one's on the ring gear. Don't know how you will make that work?

Well, that might not work then. I'll have to decide whether it's worth pulling the gears out of the wagon to transplant into the housing. I was going to change the gears anyway. Maybe I'll look into other options. I don't think I want to go to 3.73 gears as I like to have the highway performance.

I have found that I like the 2.93's. With the LT1 and low 1st gear you get out pretty well and it works nice on the road.

I stopped by your work today, Ted. I was over at B&B getting a replacement hose for the PCV. Thought I'd pop in and show you the wagin in person but I didn't see the Buick there.
I stopped by my transmission guy's place and was talking about some different ideas for the rear end. I'm thinking I might just replace the gearset in there with something used but lower and put in a better posi. He was describing the posi in these as a coo-koo clock style which was really weak. One of the things he had in his yard was a 96 9C1 Caprice with some VERY nice tires on it. He had the original tires in the back shed but had some Goodyear Eagle RS-A's in a 225-70R15 size. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...27VR5RSA&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes Looks like they are still available and would definitely improve the handling over a truck tire. It also looks like there is a BF Goodrich tire in this size that's available that is considerably cheaper. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...ADTARWL2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

    :slap:....

My honey went to Ontario to visit her parents........I drove here white Saffari Mini Van to work today, just to make sure it's 100% (it is). You most likely saw it, White, shiney clean, really new BFG raised letter all terains, no center caps on the factory sloted silver steel rims.

I'm probably going to drive the Crewzer to work tommorow, if you stop by ( or can stop by) try to make it late in the day like before. Tommorow is our year end inventory and I'm going to busy as hell counting my flat stock, and helping with our Stores inventory and trying to keep orders going out the door......it's going to be stupid busy tommorow.

EDIT>> Look for this if you stop by at the end of the day......

It'll be the one with Snow Tires and hub caps on it....still!:p

Ha! I did see that minivan there. I was wondering if that was yours. I'll come by another time when it isn't so busy for you.

I know I'm coming in a little late here, but the wheels in question are the same as the Buick wheels. They were only offered on the 1989-1990 Custom Cruiser. The center caps are very hard to find.
