    ^^^When tractor and trailer lengths mattered to the U.S. Government. That sleeper atop the cab was likely the size of a Navy enlisted rack, which was smaller than a phone booth back then.

    Seems like I have seen more of these online recently. They were pretty rare even when new. I'm glad to see they're still out there

    upload_2025-2-22_0-53-19.png Dumping pulp wood into the West Branch of the Penobscot just above the East Millinocket Mill at Dolby Dam. Probably in the 1950's. Wood came to the mills in log drives on the river, by rail and by truck. This was one innovative method of unloading quickly.
