Gone now, but will not likely be forgotten. I drove in the new Alaskan Way Tunnel, today...pretty snazzy.
The entire waterfront is going to be transformed without the viaduct there. When we were in Seattle a few weeks ago a huge section of it had already been torn down. It will be neat to see when they're finished.
But the big thing is that the buildings behind the viaduct, their collective worth is now stratospheric and continuing toward orbit. The same thing happened in San Francisco, after the Nimitz Freeway collapse was removed because of the Loma Prieta quake in '89.
Oh, I believe it. One thing I think is neat is that many of those buildings are old and therefore interesting and unique architecturally speaking. It's going to be cool to see them exposed again for the first time in decades. Some of those property owners are going likely going to strike it rich.
