    1980 Fairmont Wagon - $2000 (Champaign IL)

Up for grabs is this 1980 Fairmont wagon. 4 cylinder, 4 speed, bucket seats, AC delete car.

This car does run and drive, and everything seems to work on it (including the factory cruise control).

As you may or may not know, the Fairmont is the progenitor of the 5.0 Mustangs, and as such, all those parts basically swap over so you end up with a cool sleeper or unusual car. They are also even lighter than Mustangs. This car weighs an unbelievable 2840 pounds with no driver and quarter tank of gas.

This car is an especially good candidate for a hot rod swap. Someone interested in doing a swap to V8 can save a lot of time and money with this one.

The car is a 2.3L 4 cylinder, meaning a v8 will drop in without modification to the K-member. It is already 4 speed, so pedals and all that for a 5 speed swap are already there. It has factory bucket seats which are definitely serviceable, but any seats out of a Fox or SN95 Mustang are bolt in. The only deviation from stock is that it already has a Mustang 8.8 rear end instead of the factory 7.5. It is a factory manual steering/AC delete car.

The body on this car is very solid, and without rust issues. It is red with red interior, which is rare. It seems like wagons in this kind of shape are usually brown or green!

Wheels in pics do NOT come with the car. The car does have a set of good stock wheels and tires.

    Lots of pics here:

Pictured wheels and tires NOT included.

Please respond with something in the title so I get the idea you're not a spammer/scammer.

That would be cool with a complete 5.0 conversion as well as a 2-door swap!

    Or a t-bird turbo swap.

It appears in the pictures to have a pretty wide tire tucked under the wheel well out back. Is that normal? Sure is a good looking car.

Man....I gotta get me one of these someday! It may just be the easiest wagon in the world to mod into a gorgeous interior and awesome speed. Their are parts all over the place for these as well as new after market stuff. A 12 second one of these would be no problem and not all that expensive. Getting to 10 seconds would just take a little more money!:yup:
I really want one of these. This one looks nice but I'm not fond of bright red. I like the loaded up ones that look like an old man's car. Like the Zephyr woodies. Then do a number on it for the ultimate sleeper. For starters, my old 91 Mark VII driveline would drop in there real nice!:thumbs2:

You can stuff a pritty big tread under them, this pic is just after I got the wheels on my green Fox. 1 tire was a onion skin and a friend gave me 2, can't remember the size but big tires. The only thing I had to do was with a bace ball bat gently roll the fender wheel well flange up 45 degees.

By the looks, I think this pic is before the bigger tires

I bought a set of 15" rims for mine, they came with 225/60's, and they are pretty meaty-looking.

Yeah, I still have a set with that tire size on 2 of them, I believe(?) that was the size that came from the factory.

I'm kind remembering the ft rears I had were in the 255/60 range.

I have a set for sale andy, cheap!....... but I'm sure the shipping won't be;)

That's my old car. I sold it to him last year. I'd love to have it back, but I'm afraid to spend any cash right now.

It sounds like it will be staying in Illinois.

Has anyone ever seen my old wagon lately? Just curious what happened to it. Not bad considered I paid $900 for it, threw a few hundred in it, and sold it for $2000.
