68 Colony Park tailgate switch

    Wayne,

    The motor in the tailgate has constant power from the battery (via a little circuit breaker attached to the starter solenoid) for the keyed switch in the gate itself. The relay only comes into play to provide power for the dash switch (dash switch only works when the ignition is on, thanks to the relay).

    Motor could be dead or a wiring break somewhere down the line from your dash switch.

    Alhutch, Thanks for the tips. I did determine that the motor and rear limit switch were bad. Just need to swap the motor and hopefully everything should work. There isn't much left that could go wrong since everything has been swapped (relay, dash switch) or bypassed with a jumper (limit switch).
