tried nw falcons, autokrafters, and thunderbirdconn and no replacement cowl repair patch panels and no fender aprons for '65 falcons only for mustangs! It is insane that falcon vendors don't make/or carry in stock cowl patch panels and also apron pieces...trust me I am a mustang lover as well but the ford falcon gave birth to the mustang and there is a following in the thousands for falcons....so it looks like I am going to have to find a parts car and prey that they are in still good enough shape or do some fabrication with sheet metal
Here's a couple more to check with: http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/falcon.html http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/mercury.html http://www.rustrepair.com/floor_pan.htm http://www.usbody.com/ http://www.classicsheetmetal.com/othermetalhome.html And of course: http://www.dvap.com/
stormin norman how have you been? Hey I got an email back from nw falcons and they have a '65 wagon parts car...I sent him the measurements on the cowl (14"x14") for both sides and we are going to see if it makes sense along with the fender apron
I'm surprised that the Mustang parts don't work for you. I think I saw a Mustang cowl repair using Falcon cowl parts, on either the Hotrod Mag site or the HAMB site. Thanks, I'm fine, just busier than a one-armed paper hanger with the House Renos.
Update: tt Nw Falcons and the cost associated with cutting out the outer edges of the cowl and shipping/freight would break the piggy bank! I talked to someone who was selling a '61 2 dr wagon on craigslist in TX and he didn't want to part out the roof but he did know someone who might have a roof already....tt George, in TX who was referred by the prior guy who is selling the roof off of his '64 wagon last night...he actually has all of the sheet metal that I am looking for (cowl, quarters, torque boxes, etc) and we are going to work something out....so probably come spring/early summer I will either have a freight company pick everything up or maybe do the drive to TX...again after all of these months looking and researching on the internet it paid to talk to someone who knew someone who knew someone!
You are a patient man. With all the guys lookin' for those wagons. That's about 96 days too long! I couldn't do it.
Yeah unfortunately other things have taken precedence right now like a $2500 property tax bill....I will probably give him a deposit to hold onto from me just to let him know I am serious....of course I have to look at the pics first....yeah stormin norman patience is something that I have gotten better at dealing with and just focusing on the end result....it ultimately is a mindset....how do you like that preaching for ya?
The preaching is fine. I'm pretty patient too, but the deposit is a good deal keeper, on parts that keep getting so hard to find. I'm glad for you.
Hey everyone I got a call back from Baughmans auto parts in York,PA regarding the roof replacement....they have a good candidate, a '64 4 dr wagon with barely any rust and the inner structure is good...asking $275 with a $100 down deposit to hold the car....the guy told me that come summer they are going to START CRUSHING CARS....also was told there are about 15 falcons and lots of comets and others there....they actually have 3 yards full of edsels, etc and will getting rid of alot of the cars shortly.....if you want to see pics again of the yards go onto www.lovefords.com and go under the "out to pasture" forum.,...click on baughmans York,PA and there are some pics to enjoy....there phone # is 717-846-3434
Update: since it has been about a month since the last posting wanted to let you know that I was able to track down a good cowl section....found a replacement for my rusted out cowl for $230 ($150 metal/ $80 shipping)....his name is Brian and he is going to cut out and give me the entire cowl (upper/lower) including the metal on the side cowl and up to the door hinges from a '65 falcon parts car....also is going to include the dash as well....so when I get it that will solve my dilemna with the cowl and side apron rot...so I look at it this way the pros are I will be getting a rust free cowl to replace the mess but the con is the shipping charge from CA.....Oh well price you pay to get r done!
Here are some updated pics of the rust damage in the cowl and the roof that will be fixed....got my new camera in and excited to use it
The pics tell the story behind the roof on this wagon don't they? yes she will need a new roof as the whole inner structure is shot
