What is covering the rear wheel humps? Did you have to get a new gas tank? Obv you put an EFI pump in there. Mine is missing the tank altogether and I'm having a tough time finding something that will work. Might use one from the rear of an F-series chassis cab.
Hi Crab, I have carpet on the rear wheel wells. I got lucky with my gas tank, no rust at all, and then I did install the Tanks, Inc pump in the tank. Good luck with your search, let us know if you find a suitable replacement.
well, kinda an update.....took the wagon to the Street Rod Nationals in Pueblo this last weekend, man, what a good time, those folks really kick but!!! I managed to get a "pick" on my wagon, which is really cool, that means that out of 2000 cars there, only 35 got picks. Too cool!!! Sorry just wanted to brag a little.
Just found this thread after a time off of the forum. Incredible, and did it really go up that fast? Makes me feel like a tortoise. I didn't think I would like the black pillars instead of the more factory looking stainless trim, (I know the center pieces would have to be modified to surround the rear roll-down windows) but they look great. I've got a '60 Comet deluxe 2dr wagon, so this Fairlane really piques my interest. Fantastic job, and great eye for stance, taste, and execution.
thanks for the nice comments, Maindrian!!! I just wish I wouldve thought about painting the vent frames black before I installed them, now(to me) they are an eyesore, BUT, I am contemplating removing them all together and making the door glass bigger. Thoughts? I actually started this project back in 2010, got the quarters and doors on the car, then it sat under a tarp for over six years waiting to get finished, while I built 2 mavericks and assorted other goodies. Got on it pretty heavy last september and finished it in April.
Does the car have A/C? If it does, then by all means remove the wing windows. But if it doesn't (and you don't intend to add it) I'd keep them. I love wing windows. Nothing like being able to direct the air flow to precisely where you want it. Just my
Precisely where you want it? Just what American cars have that? Dad's '90 F150 directs it down, into "that place," and that's as 'Ford wing window' as you get. I never have been able to get anyone's wing window to blow in my face, let alone close.
yeah, I think I will keep the wing windows, I dont have air, and as you say, I like to direct the flow of air at myself, But, I think I might take the doors back apart(glutton for punishment)and remove the assemblies and sand them then paint them, satin black.
Here is my similar Ford product: I've always liked the vent windows on my '60s Fords, they are useful and part of the styling of the car. I'm kinda torn on the ventless conversions I've seen on these cars, not really my thing but to each their own.
