Exactly. The speed that the grinder with the stripping wheel can remove paint and shape the filler is addictive. I wish I had tried this months ago instead of struggling with a third sheet shander

Well I think I now have the shape of the mirror sorted and I have also smoothed the backing part of the mirror as well. Here is a picture showing the indicator on the mirror thats attached to the car. You can also see the body line/crease that has been smoothed.

Tough spot to embed that. Nicely done. I see your door handle is grinder proof. Must be easy to remove?

    Who's got Venom 1.0?

The handles have 2 10mm nuts holding them on. The mirrors still need a tiny bit of work but the shape is pretty much there. Venom 1.0 was the Blue EL Sedan I had that I put a picture and a link to a magazine article up on the first page.

Funny that Australia wants those side markers so high. I had a couple British cars that had the side flippers that popped out from the B-pillar (Hillman, Wolsely) The Mini-minor had them high on the fenders. North American cars usually have them way down, and more as reflectors.

Normally they sit alot lower but decided after putting the flares on that I wasing going to put them back in the original spot. So after looking at car yards and cars in car parks I decided to put the indicators on the mirrors. Now I had been driven the car with out the side indicators since January this year but thought I would just cover myself if a cop pulls me over although I will most likely be buggered as the exhaust is very loud and the bonnet is illegal as well.

My dad and I built a racing engine for a fuel dragster. The racing organization wouldn't let us race it in a bread van, so dad wanted this 900 HP monster in a big Dodge convertible - a 1965 Dodge Monaco. We used 2 mufflers and a resonator on each side to get it down to the allowable noise level. A plumber's nightmare. BUT, you could drive it anywhere without getting a headache or melting the wax out of your ears. :D And a nice rumble at driving speed and a lion roar, when you hit it, to keep the Corvettes in the rear-view mirror!
    :D
It would still blow mufflers every year. The thing was born to run, and it just didn't like being held back.

Well the start of a new week and all was good until the mail man turned up without my central locking kit after being assured it would be here today. So I got stuck back into the tappet cover again and got almost all the reamining paint off. The bits left are no visable when the engine is complete so not to fussed.
After putting the tappet cover back on the motor I decided to start removing some of the wiring left over from the gas system which with one cut tidied up the mires on the drivers side of the bay alot. I then decided to try work out what to do with the area where the air box used to live and worked out moving the washer bottle would work well there with the help of some alloy I had laying around. I still have to connect the tube for the washers but the wiring just runs along the chassis rail.
Here are a few pictures I got before the rain came.

Tomorrow if the rain is gone I hope to have both mirrors one the car with the indicator wiring run and connected and maybe my central locking if it arrives

Well tonight a deal was done and when my tax money arrives I will be getting some 3 piece 16 inch BBS wheels. I would have rathered 17's but with these wheels I can change the inner and or outer rims to suit the look I want.
Here is a picture of the style of wheel

Well today was the end of the freezing winds that had stopped me from working on the car. So First thing was I went and source a new belt cover, stereo surrond and a few other little things from Warwick. So I got stuck into smoothing the belt cover and getting it ready for paint which at this point will be aluminium or white depending on what colour I paint the car. Then got back onto the mirrorsand with a little light weight filler and alot of sanding I have one mirror ready for high fill/undercoat and tomorrow I should have the other done as well.

This week I also found some BA/BF style dual tips which should arrive early next week along 2 new actuators for my aftermarket central locking. Tomorrow I hope to get the smoothing of the body line/crease done and ready for primer

Freezing weather already? You're in southern Australia?

Sounds like you picked a good model to find parts for too.
